On Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at approximately 10:03 am, police, firefighters and emergency medical services responded to the area of 14298 Oaks Road in Hughesville, for a motor vehicle collision with unknown injuries.
Crews arrived on scene to find a single vehicle collision off the roadway after striking a utility pole with live wires down.
The vehicle involved in the collision was fully engulfed in fire, with the single occupant of the vehicle being able to self extricate prior to the arrival of units.
SMECO responded to assist with securing power so firefighters could extinguish the fire.
EMS transported the single patient to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center
The scene was turned over to the Charles County Sheriffs Office to conduct the investigation and assist SMECO with road closures.
