Makayla Leeann Brehm, 20, and Dominique Matthew Williams, 23, both of Prince Frederick, are facing charges of neglect of a minor and desertion of a minor child following an incident on March 26, 2026, according to court documents.

According to charging documents filed in the District Court for Calvert County, deputies with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched at approximately 1:13 p.m. on March 26, 2026, to the Greene House Salon on Central Square Drive in Prince Frederick for a report of a neglected child.

A witness, identified in court documents as an adult female, told deputies she had been at the salon getting her hair cut when she observed both parents enter the business with an infant. She later returned with her own children and saw the infant left alone inside the salon on a couch near the front door. She reported that both parents were not present and employees were actively searching the shopping center but were unable to find them.

Deputies then spoke with employees at the salon who witnessed the incident. Workers told investigators the child had been left in a carrier on the couch by the entrance while both parents exited the salon. Employees said they did not know where the parents had gone and began searching nearby businesses. One employee eventually located both parents inside Ledo’s, located on Central Square Drive in Prince Frederick. Employees told deputies the child had been left alone for approximately 10 to 15 minutes with no supervision.

During the investigation, deputies made contact with both parents. According to court documents, Brehm admitted to leaving the child unattended and told deputies it was only for a short time, stating it was “just for second” and later adding that they had left “for two seconds.”

Williams also made a statement to deputies, saying, “I should have just brought him with me.”

Investigators learned the couple had traveled from Arthur King Road in Prince Frederick to the salon, a distance of about 1.8 miles, using a scooter. Brehm told deputies the infant had been in a shoulder chest strap carrier during the trip.

Child Protective Services responded to the scene after being contacted by deputies. A representative evaluated the infant and advised that the child showed signs of general neglect due to being dirty.

Authorities also reviewed surveillance footage from inside the salon. According to the report, the video showed Brehm placing the infant, still in a carrier, on the couch near the front door before both Brehm and Williams exited the salon. The footage reportedly showed Brehm returning to the salon after approximately nine minutes.

During the investigation, deputies were also notified that Williams had an active warrant through the District of Columbia Metro Transit Police Department. Both Brehm and Williams were taken into custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center.

Court records show Brehm was initially held without bond and later released on her own recognizance following a bail review on March 27, 2026. Williams was also initially held without bond and later released after posting a $5,000 unsecured personal bond.

Both cases remain open in the District Court for Calvert County, with a trial scheduling hearing set for May 20, 2026.
