Cynthia Anne Istvan, lovingly known as Cindy, of Mechanicsville, Maryland passed away on March 30, 2026, in Leonardtown, Maryland, surrounded by her devoted family.
Born on February 21, 1963, Cindy was the daughter of the late John D. Heard and Doris Williams Heard. She shared 36 wonderful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Francis Istvan, whom she married on April 21, 1989.
Cindy was preceded in death by her father, her cherished son, Francis B. Istvan, Jr. and brother, Donald Heard. She is survived by her brother, John Heard (Lori) of Lexington Park, Maryland, and her sisters, Sherri Himes of Mechanicsville, Maryland, and Teri Smith (Richard) of West Virginia.
Cindy dedicated her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Genesis Nursing Care, where she compassionately cared for others. A woman of faith, she was a member of the Catholic community.
She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—playing board games, watching baseball and wrestling, and trying her luck with bingo and scratch-offs. Cindy will be remembered for her warmth, her devotion to family, and the happiness she brought to those around her.
