Tavoy Kelly Summerville, 47, of Lexington Park, is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges, including firearm possession by a prohibited person, firearm use in connection with a drug trafficking crime, distribution of controlled substances with a firearm, possession with intent to distribute narcotics, possession of a large amount of narcotics, maintaining a drug-related nuisance, possession of drug production equipment, illegal possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm without a serial number, use of an assault weapon magazine, and two counts of drug possession, following his arrest on March 26, 2026.
According to court documents, deputies with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Unit executed a court-authorized search and seizure warrant at a residence on Spring Hill Road in Lexington Park as part of an investigation into alleged drug trafficking activities.
Charging documents state, “On March 26th, 2026, the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Vice/Narcotics Unit (‘SMCSO-VNU’) executed [a] court authorized search and seizure warrant at a residence on Spring Hill Road, in Lexington Park… the residence of Tavoy Kelly Summerville.” The documents further state the warrant “was the culmination of an investigation into the drug trafficking activities” of Summerville.
Authorities reported that Summerville was located inside the residence during the search and was identified using a Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration photograph. Investigators wrote that he “was advised of his Miranda rights, which the defendant acknowledged he understood.”
According to the statement of probable cause, “as detectives began search of the residence, the defendant asked to speak to detective and told the SMCSO/VNU detective where drugs were could be located within his bedroom.”
A search of the bedroom reportedly led to the recovery of multiple items. Court documents state deputies seized “approximately 40.3 grams of fentanyl,” “approximately 3.5 grams cocaine,” and “seven (7) pre-packaged quantities of suspected fentanyl.” Investigators also reported finding “numerous ‘cutting’ agents; packaging materials, and digital scale.”
The report states that the substances were tested and “indicated positive for fentanyl” and “indicated positive for cocaine.” Authorities added that “the large quantity of fentanyl, in conjunction with the ‘cutting agents,’ packaging material, and digital scale… is indicative of possession with intent to distribute narcotics.”
Investigators also described the recovery of a firearm, stating that a “.12-gauge firearm, model ‘GEN 12,’ bearing no serial numbers, loaded with 11 rounds of 12-gauge rounds of ammunition in high-capacity magazine, was located next to the defendant’s bed and seized.”
Further details in the charging documents indicate the firearm was considered a regulated weapon due to its barrel length, and that it was privately manufactured and required a serial number under Maryland law. Authorities also stated that database checks confirmed Summerville was prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition due to prior convictions, including second-degree assault and previous drug offenses.
The documents also state that investigators, based on their “training, experience, and knowledge,” determined that the recovered items—including cutting agents, packaging materials, and a digital scale—were “indicative of narcotics production equipment utilized to facilitate the defendant’s drug distribution activities.”
Summerville was arrested at the scene and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center, where custody was transferred to correctional staff.
Officials determined that Summerville was not eligible for release and ordered that he be “held without bond.” Conditions outlined by the court include that he must “not engage in any criminal conduct during the period of pretrial release” and must “appear in court when notified to do so.”
A bail review hearing was held on March 27, 2026, and the case remains open. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 23, 2026, in St. Mary’s District Court.
