Tasco C Plater, 57, of Saint Leonard, is facing a second-degree assault charge following a domestic disturbance that occurred on April 2, 2026, according to court documents.
Charging documents state that Maryland State Police responded to a residence in Saint Leonard for a reported domestic disturbance.
According to the statement of probable cause, On 4/2/2026 at approximately 9:45 p.m., an officer responded for the report of a domestic disturbance.
Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a woman inside the residence, who reported that an argument had occurred involving family members. The document states she advised that “her grandson… and her sister Tasco Cassandra Plater… got into an argument over toilet paper.”
While speaking inside, the officer reported hearing a disturbance outside. “While speaking… I heard a loud commotion outside. I went back outside and observed Tasco yelling loudly,” the report states.
According to court documents, deputies observed Plater allegedly move toward an adult female victim during the incident. The report states, “We detained Tasco in handcuffs due to her charging at [the adult female victim]. Deputy Robey… advised he observed Tasco charge at [the adult female victim] and grab [the victim’s] hair.”
The adult female victim later told officers she was not injured. According to the report, “She was not injured and had no visible signs of injury… she was walking to her car… when Tasco charged her and grabbed her hair with her right hand.”
Plater denied the allegation after being advised of her rights. The statement notes, “Tasco advised she did not grab [the victim’s] hair.”
Authorities reported that Plater was taken into custody and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. She was formally charged with second-degree assault, a misdemeanor offense.
Court records show Plater was released on a $5,000 unsecured personal bond following her arrest on April 3, 2026. A court date is scheduled for May 18, 2026, in Calvert District Court.
