No Injuries Reported After Partial Collapse of St. Ignatius Church in Port Tobacco

On Thursday, April 9, 2026, firefighters were dispatched to the St. Ignatius Church on Chapel Point Road in Port Tobacco, for the reported “Collapse Investigation”

Upon arrival, crews discovered a total roof collapse of the church hall/office building. Fortunately, all workers and church staff were accounted for prior to our arrival.

Crews quickly secured the utilities and established a safe operational area while awaiting the County Building Inspector. Who after conducting a thorough assessment, deemed the structure was unsafe.

Units remained on scene for approximately two hours before returning to service.
