Jamie Alexander Gevawer-Galeas, 23, of Lusby
Jamie Alexander Gevawer-Galeas, 23, of Lusby, is facing a charge of second-degree assault following an alleged incident at a hospital in Prince Frederick, according to court documents.
The charge stems from an incident reported on April 5, 2026, at Hospital Road in Prince Frederick. According to charging documents filed by a deputy with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the emergency room after receiving a report of an assault that had already occurred.
Court records state that upon arrival, the deputy made contact with an adult female victim who was working at the hospital. The deputy wrote, “On Sunday, April 5, 2026, at approximately 0105 hours, I responded to Calvert Health Medical Center’s Emergency Room… for the report of an assault that had already occurred.”
According to the statement of charges, the victim reported that while treating Gevawer-Galeas, who had recently been transported to the emergency room, the defendant was “extremely intoxicated” and “was not cooperating with the medical staff.”
The victim further told deputies that during the encounter, Gevawer-Galeas “spat on [the victim] three times on her scrubs and also hit her in the chest twice with an open hand.” The documents note that the victim did not report injuries but observed “wet spit marks on her shirt.”
According to the deputy’s written account, Gevawer-Galeas was restrained to a hospital bed due to her behavior. The deputy also noted, “Due to Gevawer-Galeas being extremely intoxicated and medicated by staff while I was on scene, I did not get Gevawer-Galeas’ statement of the incident.”
A criminal summons was issued on April 9, 2026, ordering Gevawer-Galeas to appear in court. The document states, “YOU ARE SUMMONED AND COMMANDED to appear for Preliminary Inquiry… on 06/01/2026 at 10:30AM.”
However, based on the return of service section in the court paperwork, there is no indication that the summons has been served as of the latest filing. The form includes unchecked certification boxes and no recorded service date, suggesting the defendant had not yet been located or formally served at the time of the document’s completion.
A preliminary inquiry hearing is scheduled for June 1, 2026, at the Calvert District Court. The case remains open.
