
UPDATE 4/22/2026: We regret to announce that Nives Hood, age 84, succumbed to her injuries sustained during the time she was missing.
We keep her family and friends in our thoughts, along with all our First Responders who quickly assisted in the search.

UPDATE 3:00 P.M.: Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 2 responded to land nearby due to the victim suffering injuries to the head and hypothermia. While enroute, EMS began performing CPR and life-saving measures.
Trooper 2 diverted to the St. Mary’s Hospital incase needed. The 84-year-old victim was transported with CPR in progress.
Police are investigating the incident.
UPDATE 4/20/26 @ 12:30 P.M.: The missing woman has been located. EMS has been requested to the scene due to the woman suffering injuries.
Aviation has been requested due to her injuries.
Critical missing person alert – Nives Hood, an 84 year old female with dementia, last seen sometime last night in the 21600 block of Oakley Road near Mossey Lea Lane in Avenue.
Command post is at the Seventh District Volunteer Fire Department. Police, firefighters and emergency medical services are operating along with search and rescue dogs enroute.
