Court records allege the incidents in Solomons occurred between December 18, 2025, and February 20, 2026, involving multiple visits to the store where items such as beverages, yogurt, produce, and meat products were taken, each incident valued at less than $100. In Lusby, two additional alleged thefts took place on December 12, 2025, and December 18, 2025, totaling approximately $55.51, according to charging documents.
A deputy with the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office reported responding to the Solomons store on February 24, 2026. In the charging documents, the deputy stated, “On 02/24/2026 at approximately 1609 hours, I responded to the Weis Markets located at HG Trueman Road, Solomons, Maryland, for the report of a theft.”
The investigation involved a store loss prevention officer who identified a pattern. According to the documents, “Watts advised me that she has been investigating repetitive shoplifter that has been stealing numerous times from both the Solomons and Lusby Weis locations.”
Authorities described the alleged method used during the incidents, stating, “The subject places items that he intends to steal in the bottom of the bags, put another bag on top of it, and proceeds to shop. Once his shopping is complete, he goes to self-checkout and pays for the numerous items on top. The subject fails to provide any form of payment for the items that he covers with the second grocery bag.”
Investigators reported identifying the suspect through a store rewards account. “Watts stated she discovered who the subject is using his Weis Markets rewards card that he uses every time he checks out items,” the deputy wrote.
