Man Flown to Trauma Center After Accidental Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound in Waldorf

On Saturday, April 25, 2026, at approximately 2:55 p.m., police, firefighters and emergency medical services responded to the 2000 block of Kelly Court in Waldorf, for the reported shooting.

911 callers reported a 50-year-old male accidentally shot himself while removing a firearm from a gun safe.

Crews arrived on the scene to find the victim was conscious alert and breathing with a serious wound to the wrist/hand, and requested a helicopter to land nearby.

Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 2 landed nearby and transported the victim to the Curtis National Hand Center at MedStar Union Memorial Hospital.

Police are investigating the incident. No other injuries were reported.
