Charles Edward Taylor, 40, of Waldorf
Charles Edward Taylor, 40, of Waldorf, has been charged with trespassing on private property, possession of a controlled dangerous substance not cannabis, and possession of drug paraphernalia following an arrest in Lexington Park on April 16, 2026, according to court documents.
Charging documents filed in St. Mary’s County District Court state that deputies with the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded at approximately 11:16 a.m. to the Dollar Tree area on Shangri-La Drive in Lexington Park for a report of a trespasser. The store manager reportedly told deputies that the same individual had returned to the property after previously being issued a trespass notice days earlier.
According to the statement of probable cause, Deputy Alex Sams identified the man as Taylor based on prior law enforcement contact. Court records state Taylor was found near the Popeye’s restaurant in the plaza parking lot and allegedly admitted he knew he was not supposed to be on the property.
Deputies alleged Taylor also had an active warrant related to an earlier trespassing case and a probation violation. Investigators stated that after Taylor was taken into custody, deputies searched his backpack and allegedly located three glass pipes with dark residue and multiple filtering devices. The deputy wrote that, based on training and experience, the items were believed to have been used to smoke crack cocaine.
Court documents further state that deputies observed burn marks on the pipes and that assisting deputies photographed Taylor on the property. Investigators also referenced a prior trespass notice issued on April 9, 2026, by another deputy on behalf of the Dollar Tree property manager for the entirety of Millison Plaza, including the parking lot.
Taylor was formally charged with one count of trespassing on private property, one count of possession of a controlled dangerous substance not cannabis, and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
During an initial appearance, court officials ordered Taylor not to return to or be near Shangri-La Drive in Lexington Park as a condition of release. He was released on a $1,500 unsecured personal bond, according to court records.
