May 8, 2026

NAS Patuxent River, in partnership with the St. Mary’s County Health Department and Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Patuxent River, is hosting a routine Potassium Iodide (KI) tablet distribution event.

This distribution is specifically for NAS Patuxent River personnel living or working within the 10-mile zone of the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant.

Date: Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., located at the Intersection of Delalio Rd and Tate Road. The process: Personnel will need to complete a distribution form identifying the number of individuals in their household and sign for the tablets.

The tablets are FREE – Tablets are available while supplies last. Detailed usage instructions will be provided at the time of distribution.

⚠️ IMPORTANT HEALTH WARNING – Do NOT take Potassium Iodide unless explicitly instructed by public health or emergency management officials during an emergency incident. KI tablets help prevent thyroid cancer in people exposed to radioactive gases released during atomic reactor accidents, but they do not prevent any other radiation-caused cancers.
