Gerrell C. Robinson, 47, of Lexington Park, has been charged with malicious destruction of property valued at less than $1,000 after a St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputy reported that Robinson allegedly punched the driver’s side window of an agency vehicle during an incident on May 5, 2026, in Lexington Park.
According to court documents, Deputy K. Nolan responded to Great Mills Road in Lexington Park for a welfare check involving a person reported to be acting erratically. The deputy wrote that after arriving and parking in a lot, Robinson allegedly walked aggressively toward the driver’s side of the marked agency vehicle before the deputy could get out.
The statement of probable cause says Robinson allegedly began punching the driver’s window “with clear attempt to break the window.” Court documents state the vehicle belonged to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, which is listed as the owner of the property in the charging document.
Robinson was taken into custody at the scene, according to the court filing. The deputy reported that an inspection of the driver’s side window showed “clear smudges” where Robinson allegedly punched it. The filing says Robinson was later identified through a Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration photograph.
The charge filed in District Court for St. Mary’s County is a misdemeanor count of malicious destruction of property valued at less than $1,000. The charge summary lists a possible penalty of up to 60 days and/or a $500 fine if convicted.
Court records show Robinson appeared for an initial appearance on May 5, 2026. He waived an attorney for that initial appearance only, was found eligible for the Public Defender, and was released on his own recognizance with no bail amount set. His release conditions require him to appear in court and not engage in criminal activity while the case is pending.
