Nehemiah Jami Ware, 24, of Bryans Road, has been charged in Charles County District Court with misdemeanor fraud-personal identification to avoid prosecution after authorities said he used another person’s identity while deputies were investigating a reported assault. The case, filed May 8, 2026, remains open in District Court for Charles County under.

According to charging documents, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office received a call for a first-degree assault on May 7, 2026, at about 10:20 p.m. The caller advised that the person would meet officers near the Charles County Sheriff’s Office District II Station. Officers initially could not locate the adult male reporting party, but later found him at the Dash In on Indian Head Highway in Bryans Road.

Court documents state that officers spoke with the man, who allegedly provided an assumed name and a date of birth. The documents say officers did not believe the information was accurate. Charles County Sheriff’s Office Communications was asked to run a check, but no matching person was found under the name and birthdate provided. The man then allegedly gave a second date of birth, which also did not match anyone located by officers or communications staff.

According to the statement of probable cause, officers spent about 90 minutes working to identify the man through a local law enforcement database. Investigators said they eventually determined he was Ware and that his date of birth was Nov. 20, 2001. The documents allege Ware had an outstanding warrant through the Charles County Sheriff’s Office for failure to appear in trespass and malicious destruction of property matters.

Ware is charged with knowingly and willfully assuming another identity to avoid identification, apprehension, or prosecution for a crime, described in court records as an arrest warrant. The charge summary lists the offense as “FRAUD-PER. IDENT. AVOID PROS,” with a possible penalty of up to one year and/or a $500 fine.

At an initial appearance on May 8, 2026, a District Court commissioner found probable cause and ordered Ware released on personal recognizance, meaning no bond payment was required. The release conditions listed in court records require him not to engage in criminal activity and to appear in court when notified.
