The College of Southern Maryland (CSM) will host industry, academic, and elected leaders for the Southern Maryland Regional Quantum Technologies Forum on Wednesday, May 20, at the La Plata Campus to explore the growing impact of quantum technology on regional industries and workforce development.
The event will take place at 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Center for Business and Industry (BI Building) at CSM La Plata. The event includes presentations, panel discussions, and breakout sessions led by industry experts, focused on what quantum is, why it matters, and how it’s expected to impact the future workforce.
Capital of Quantum Director Dr. Corey Stambaugh will present ‘Quantum Demystified.’ an outline of what quantum technology is and how Maryland is positioning itself as a leader in this emerging industry.
Breakout sessions will explore how Maryland is preparing for the future quantum marketplace and the technology’s impact on industries like defense, energy, and biotechnology. Additional sessions will focus on the role community colleges will play in developing a quantum workforce, and infrastructure needed for labs and research centers.
