UPDATE 5/26/2026: Erin Neveal Stokes, 34, of Lexington Park, is facing a new drug case in St. Mary’s County District Court after being arrested again less than a week after an earlier case involving suspected fentanyl, crack cocaine, and drug paraphernalia. The latest case, filed May 20, 2026, charges Stokes with one count of CDS possession-not cannabis and three counts of CDS possession of paraphernalia. Court records list the alleged offense date as May 19, 2026, and identify Deputy Rachael Owens of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office as the arresting officer.

The new arrest comes after a previous article reported on Stokes’ May 13, 2026 case, in which she was charged with two counts of CDS possession-not cannabis and one count of CDS possession of paraphernalia. In that first case, court documents alleged Stokes was stopped near Saratoga Drive and Midway Drive in Lexington Park and that suspected fentanyl, suspected crack cocaine, and a glass smoking device with burnt residue were found near where she had been seated in a vehicle.

In the first case, the court set a $1,500 unsecured personal bond, which was posted the same day. As conditions of release, court records state that Stokes must appear in court when notified, not engage in criminal conduct, and abstain from alcohol or the abusive use or possession of narcotics or other controlled dangerous substances without a prescription from a licensed medical practitioner. That case remains open, with a trial scheduled for June 30, 2026, at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 2 at St. Mary’s District Court.

According to court documents in the newest case, a black Ford F-150 with Virginia registration was stopped on May 19, 2026, at Three Notch Road and Pegg Road in Lexington Park after it was allegedly traveling 62 mph in a 45 mph zone. The vehicle had four occupants, and Stokes was seated in the rear right passenger seat. A K-9 officer advised the driver and passengers that a “PLAIN AIR SNIFF” would be conducted and that each person would be asked to step out of the vehicle.

Deputy Owens wrote that Stokes was the second person to exit the vehicle. While Stokes was getting out, a glass smoking device allegedly fell from the vehicle, landed on the roadway, and rolled to the curb. The deputy reported that the device contained white residue suspected to be crack cocaine, had a filter on one end, and had burn marks.

Court documents state that after all occupants were out of the vehicle, a search was conducted. A purse was found in the rear right passenger area and was claimed by Stokes, according to the statement of probable cause. Deputy Owens wrote that Stokes’ identification was inside the purse, along with a box containing 33 unused glass smoking devices with filters and a large piece of copper Brillo pad with burnt pieces, which the deputy described as commonly used as filters.

Stokes was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center. In the new case, the court again released her on bond, this time setting a $5,000 unsecured personal bond. Court records show the bond was posted on May 20, 2026.

As part of her release in the newest case, court records state that Stokes must not engage in criminal activity, must appear in court when notified, and must not use alcohol, drugs, or controlled substances. The initial appearance report also states that she was ordered to abstain from alcohol or the abusive use or possession of narcotic drugs or other controlled dangerous substances without a prescription from a licensed medical practitioner. Her next court date in the new case is scheduled for July 9, 2026, at 9 a.m. in Courtroom 1 at St. Mary’s District Court.

5//18/2026: Erin Neveal Stokes, 34, of Lexington Park, has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance that was not cannabis and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia after a May 13, 2026, traffic stop in Lexington Park, according to District Court records filed in St. Mary’s County.

Court documents identify the arresting and complaining officer as Deputy Travis Wimberly of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office. The charges listed in the court filing are officially described as “CDS: POSSESS-NOT CANNABIS” for the first two counts and “CDS:POSS PARAPHERNALIA” for the third count. The charging documents allege that the substances involved were fentanyl and crack cocaine, and that the paraphernalia was a glass smoking device with burnt residue.

According to the statement of probable cause, Deputy Wimberly reported that on May 13, 2026, he was operating a marked patrol vehicle in the area of Midway Drive and Saratoga Drive in Lexington Park when he observed a dark-colored 2025 Hyundai Elantra traveling on Saratoga Drive toward Midway Drive. The deputy wrote that the vehicle failed to stop at the painted stop line and stopped “almost an entire car length” beyond it, partially into the travel portion of Midway Drive. Court records state that the deputy initiated a traffic stop, and the vehicle came to rest on Midway Drive near Yorktown Road.

The probable cause statement says the deputy identified Stokes as the driver. While speaking at the passenger-side window, the deputy reported seeing multiple balled-up pieces of burnt copper Brillo in the front passenger-side door handle. The documents state that the deputy suspected the items contained burnt residue and were commonly used as filter material in smoking devices used to inhale crack cocaine.

According to court documents, both occupants were removed from the vehicle for a search. The deputy reported seeing a folded $1 bill on the front seat where Stokes had been seated. The statement says a white powder substance suspected to be fentanyl was found inside the folded bill, and a loose white rock-like substance suspected to be crack cocaine was found nearby. A glass smoking device containing burnt residue, suspected to be crack cocaine residue, was also reported on the seat.

The charging document alleges that Stokes possessed fentanyl and crack cocaine, both listed in the document as Schedule II controlled dangerous substances. The third charge alleges she used or possessed with intent to use drug paraphernalia, described as a “glass smoking device w/ burnt residue,” in connection with crack cocaine.

Stokes was taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center, according to the arrest documents. At her initial appearance on May 13, 2026, court records show she waived an attorney for that appearance only.

The court set a $1,500 unsecured personal bond, which was posted the same day. As conditions of release, court records state that Stokes must appear in court when notified, not engage in criminal conduct, and abstain from alcohol or the abusive use or possession of narcotics or other controlled dangerous substances without a prescription from a licensed medical practitioner.

Court records also note that Stokes was found eligible for the Public Defender, and the Public Defender’s appearance was entered on May 14, 2026.
