On Saturday, June 6, 2026, police in St. Mary’s County responded to a carjacking involving a Ford Bronco SUV.
Around 12 p.m., the suspects were located and began fleeing from police.
The suspects traveled down Point Lookout Road before turning onto Hanover Drive where they crashed at the dead end residential street before fleeing on foot into the nearby wooded area.
Troopers from the Maryland State Leonardtown Barrack, Aviation Command Trooper 7, and Calvert County Sheriff’s Office and K9 units responded to assist.
While responding to the scene to assist in a track, a vehicle pulled out infront of a Calvert County Sheriff’s K9 Officer while he was responding code, with lights and sirens activated.
The deputy was able to avoid striking the vehicle before traveling off the roadway, striking a utility box, utility pole and road sign.
All K9’s are reportedly okay and not injured.
The 36-year-old adult male deputy was transported to the St. Mary’s County Regional Airport to meet Trooper 2 who transported the patient to an area trauma center.
No suspects are currently known to be in custody at this time.
