On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 8:35 a.m., police, firefighters and emergency medical services from Calvert and Anne Arundel Counties were dispatched to the 500 block of Small Reward Road in Huntingtown, for the reported possible structure fire.
While responding, dispatchers upgraded the assignment to a working fire dispatch after multiple 911 callers reported the house was on fire.
Crews arrived on the scene to find fire showing from the first and second floor of 3090 Mayberry Avenue, and upon entering the residence, crews reported fire throughout the entire house and through the roof.
Evacuation tones were sounded within 14 minutes of dispatch after a partial collapse of the home.
The home sustained significant damage and the family has lost many of their belongings. Firefighters remained on scene for over 3 hours conducting extensive overhaul operations and ensuring all remaining hot spots were fully extinguished.
A GoFundMe will be added once available – A member of our local fire service family is in need of our support. An Assistant Chief and Past Fire Chief of the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department recently lost everything in a devastating house fire in Huntingtown.
The fire service has always been built on neighbors helping neighbors, and we are asking our community and fellow first responders to come together during this difficult time.
