St. Mary’s County Recreation & Parks is excited to announce the return of Friday Summer Skate at Leonard Hall Recreation Center. The Summer Skate season begins Friday, June 26, 2026, and continues through August 14, 2026.
Each Friday, families can enjoy a fun-filled afternoon of roller skating in the indoor arena from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., with unique themes featured each week. Admission is $5.00 per person, and skate rentals are available for an additional $2.50.
Friday Summer Skate themes for 2026 include:
- June 26 – Flashback Friday: Dress in your favorite retro styles!
- July 3 – Red, White & Blue Day: Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday!
- July 10 – Winter in July: Imagine you’re in a “Frozen” winter wonderland!
- July 17 – Prince & Princess Day: Enjoy a royal and magical skate session!
- July 24 – Mix & Match Day: Dress as goofy as you can!
- July 31 – Superhero Skate: Wear your favorite superhero costume!
- August 7 – Team Spirit Day: Wear apparel from your favorite sports team!
- August 14 – Beat the Heat: End the summer with popsicles and other cool treats!
Leonard Hall Recreation Center also hosts Family Skate every Sunday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., excluding holidays. This weekly event provides the perfect opportunity for skaters of all ages and skill levels to join in the fun. Like Friday Summer Skate, admission is $5.00 per person, and skate rentals are available for $2.50. Skaters are also welcome to bring their own roller skates.
Advance online registration is available by visiting www.stmaryscountymd.gov/Recreate and selecting “Online Registration” to view the catalog. Registration for both Friday Summer Skate and Sunday Family Skate is located under the “Events & Activities” tab. Skaters may also pay at the door during each skate session.
