Richard Allan Watson, 57, of Lusby, has been charged with concealing a dangerous weapon, inhaling or smelling an inhalant, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance that was not cannabis after Calvert County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of a drug violation at the Walmart on N. Solomons Island Road in Prince Frederick on June 11, 2026.

According to charging information, deputies found Watson seated in a 2016 Ford Edge in the rear area of the Walmart parking lot. Deputies reported seeing multiple cans of Spray-X Electronics Duster in plain view inside the vehicle. Watson was asked to get out of the vehicle, and while speaking with deputies, he allegedly admitted to inhaling the electronics duster cans.

An employee who contacted authorities told deputies she had parked next to Watson’s vehicle and saw him inhaling from aerosol cans by spraying the substance into his nostrils.

A search of Watson’s vehicle after his arrest turned up about 14 to 16 cans of Spray-X Electronics Duster, with most of them empty. Deputies also reported that one can on the driver’s side floorboard was cold to the touch, which the investigating deputy said indicated it had recently been used.

Deputies also reported finding a prescription bottle in the center console containing 33 pills of Varenicline Tartrate and one suspected pill of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine, described in the paperwork as a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance. Investigators also said they found a collapsible metal baton between the driver’s door and the driver’s seat, within easy reach of where Watson had been sitting.

Watson was arrested and taken to the Calvert County Detention Center. He was later released on his own recognizance on June 11, 2026. As part of his release conditions, he was ordered not to engage in criminal activity, to appear in court when required, and to complete an evaluation with Calvert Behavioral Health and follow all recommendations.
