On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, at approximately 11:45 a.m., emergency medical services responded to the T.C. Martin Elementary School located at 6315 Olivers Shop Road in Bryantown, for the reported injuries after a fall.
911 callers reported a “10-year-old female student was conscious and alert after she tripped and fell on her face.” The caller reported she had swelling to her thigh as well.
EMS arrived on the scene and found the child was suffering from a serious injury to a lower extremity and requested a helicopter to land at the school.
Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 2 landed and transported the child to the Children’s National Medical Center.
Since the incident has occurred, we have received several messages and complaints alleging that this incident was not an accident, and reported that a known 13-year-old male bully had tripped the patient, which resulted in a serious fracture that required surgery.
The student reportedly even admitted to tripping the victim, however, we have learned no disciplinary actions were taken.
The following was released in an email the day of the incident. 6/16/2026 – Dear parents and Guardians: This afternoon, a Maryland State Police helicopter landed on the grounds of T.C. Martin Elementary to assist emergency service personnel due to a medical emergency here at school.
At the time of the landing the school was on secure status and then released to hold to ensure everyone was able to continue their activities within building and not move outside. This timeframe extended from 11:45 am – 1:00 pm.
While we do not traditionally share medical emergencies, we do want to thank our students and staff for following all our safety protocols to ensure the emergency was handled appropriately. Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely, Mrs. Hosendorf. Principal
We have no further updates on the victims condition, any actions taken by Charles County Public Schools, T.C. Martin or disciplinary actions planned for the student involved.
Just one month ago, parents and community members contacted SMNEWSNET and posted online about concerns involving alleged misconduct, student safety, and claims that T.C. Martin Elementary School and Principal Hosendorf were not taking safety concerns seriously.
Within the same week of those parent complaints, it was later confirmed that an unidentified staff member at T.C. Martin Elementary School was under investigation for inappropriate conduct with students.
The Charles County Sheriff’s Office previously stated:
“After being contacted by families from T.C. Martin Elementary School this week, we have launched an investigation into this matter. This is an active, ongoing investigation.” No additional information has since been released by law enforcement, leaving parents and families still awaiting answers regarding their complaints and concerns.
While no further public update has been provided regarding the investigation, an email was sent to parents and guardians on May 13, 2026.
The email stated:
“Dear Parents, Guardians and Staff: Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) is aware of recent social media activity and conversations circulating within the community that have raised concerns related to student safety at T.C. Martin Elementary School. I understand that information shared online – particularly when it involves children – can understandably cause worry and uncertainty for families.
When concerns about a Martin employee were brought to the attention of school administrators, they were immediately reviewed in accordance with CCPS protocols and legal requirements. A comprehensive inquiry was conducted by the CCPS Office of School Safety and Security, which included a review of relevant records, interviews with appropriate staff, and referrals to Child Protective Services when required by law.
Our public safety partners have reported to CCPS that as of today, no reports about inappropriate communication between any staff or students have been filed by any Martin parents.
Based on the findings of this inquiry, there was no evidence to substantiate allegations of the employee’s inappropriate conduct with students, improper hiring practices, or a failure by school administration to respond to reported concerns. While we are limited by law in what we can share regarding individual personnel matters, I want to assure families that concerns raised by parents and staff were taken seriously and addressed through established procedures.
Student safety and wellbeing are our highest priorities. CCPS has clear expectations for employees regarding professional conduct, mandatory reporting, and supervision, and those expectations are enforced. Allegations suggesting potential harm to students by staff are reviewed promptly and thoroughly, with appropriate referrals to external agencies when required.
I also recognize the important role families play in supporting safe school environments. We encourage parents/guardians to share concerns directly with school administrators or CCPS administrative and leadership staff so they can be addressed accurately, responsibly and without delay. While social media can be a space for conversation, it can also unintentionally spread incomplete or inaccurate information, which may heighten concern without providing clarity.
Thank you for your continued partnership and trust. CCPS remains committed to transparency while abiding by laws that protect both employee and student personal information, and to maintaining safe, supportive learning environments for all students.”
