On Sunday, June 21, 2026, at approximately 6:57 a.m., firefighters from Bay District, Hollywood, Solomons, Leonardtown, and Second District were dispatched to the 23000 block of Mirfield Lane in California for the reported structure fire.
Crews arrived on the scene and found a two-story residence with fire showing.
The occupants were confirmed to be out of the residence, and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters controlled the fire within 20 minutes and continued to operate on the scene as of 9:00 a.m.
The Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office is on the scene investigating the cause of the fire.
The American Red Cross will assist the two adults and two children displaced by the fire. The homeowners were out of state on vacation, and a family member was dogsitting when the fire occurred.
