On Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at approximately 7:43 a.m., police, firefighters and emergency medical services responded to the area of 27544 Thompson Corner Road in Mechanicsville, for a serious motor vehicle collision with rollover and entrapment.
911 callers reported a single vehicle rolled over, with the operator appearing to be trapped, unconscious, and possibly deceased.
Maryland State Police Aviation Command was placed on standby incase needed.
Police arrived on the scene to confirm a single vehicle off the roadway, with the single occupant of the vehicle deceased.
Deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office continue to investigate the collision.
The roadway will remain closed for investigation. Updates will be provided when they become available.
