Alvin Ray Knopp, 79, of Deale passed away June 26, 2026, at home surrounded by family. He was born August 21, 1946 in Annapolis to Alvin Butler and Doris (Bowen) Knopp. Ray grew up in Deale and graduated from Southern High School in 1964. He married Brenda King on September 28, 1968. Ray joined the United States Army in 1966 and was stationed in Germany during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1968. He worked for DC Public Works as a carpenter for many years, retiring in 1996. Ray was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and crabbing. He was nicknamed “The Guide” by his friends for always guiding them on their hunting and fishing trips. He also enjoyed gardening, watching the Baltimore Orioles and Ravens, and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.
Ray is survived by his wife Brenda Knopp, daughter Renee Knopp and her husband Rick Husk, son Jayme Knopp and his wife Jennifer, grandsons Ronnie and Travis Knopp and Shane and Brendan Ronan, and brother Wayne Knopp.
Graveside services will be private. A celebration of Ray’s life will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 2:00 PM at the Deale Elks Lodge.
