Shaniya Curshawn Mason, 25, of Lexington Park, has been charged with disorderly conduct and resisting/interfering with arrest following a June 17, 2026, incident in Lexington Park, according to charging documents. She was released on her own recognizance following an initial appearance and is scheduled for trial in St. Mary’s County District Court on July 28, 2026.
According to allegations filed by the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Valley Estates Drive in Lexington Park to assist with an unrelated investigation when they observed Mason engaged in a verbal argument with an unidentified man. Deputies say Mason approached the man while threatening to hit him. When deputies instructed both individuals to separate to de-escalate the situation, the two refused to comply and continued arguing. Authorities say Mason then shoved the man with both arms.
Deputies say an officer attempted to escort Mason away from the confrontation and informed her she was under arrest. According to the allegations, Mason pulled her arm away and turned her body in an effort to prevent being taken into custody before deputies gained control and placed her in hand restraints. The unidentified male involved declined to identify himself and was not cooperative with the investigation, according to the filing. Mason was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center and charged with disorderly conduct and resisting/interfering with arrest.
This is not Mason’s first criminal case in St. Mary’s County. In July 2025, she was charged by criminal summons with second-degree assault stemming from an alleged fight at a Wawa on Three Notch Road in California. According to the earlier charging application, deputies alleged Mason followed an adult female victim into a restroom before a fight broke out, then later followed the victim through the store and allegedly grabbed the victim by the hair and struck her multiple times. Investigators also alleged store surveillance video corroborated witness accounts of the altercation. Mason was ultimately charged in that case with second-degree assault.
