Solomons Island Barge Worker Transported to Trauma Center After Injury During Fireworks Show

On Sunday, July 5, 2026, during the Solomons Island Fireworks Show, a 60-year-old male worker on the barge suffered an injury which required immediate medical care.

Solomons VFD Rescue Boat 3 was able to transfer the patient to the boat from the barge, and transported them to awaiting EMS at the Solomons Boat Ramp.

While evaluating the patient, a medic and helicopter was requested due to the patients injuries.

Maryland State Police Aviation Command Trooper 7 landed at the Solomons Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department.

While preparing to transported the injured worker, a 17-year-old male was stabbed on the Solomons Island Boardwalk. Trooper 7 and EMT’s made the call to ground transport the worker by ambulance to an area trauma center, while the assault victim was flown out.

The extent of the workers injuries were not clarified, however, he was reported as conscious and breathing.
