The St. Mary’s County Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing Tuesday, July 7, 2026, to receive public input on several proposed land use category change requests tied to the St. Mary’s 2050 planning process.
The meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. at the Chesapeake Building, located at 41770 Baldridge Street in Leonardtown.
According to the meeting agenda, the Planning Commission will review and approve the June 29, 2026 meeting minutes before moving into the public hearing portion of the meeting.
The public hearing will focus on St. Mary’s 2050 Land Use Category Change Requests. Applications listed on the agenda include Seaforth Partnership, also identified as Camp Merryelande; Stanley Martin; Medina Partnership; Bumpy Oak; Family Tree Ventures; LMZ LLC; Lloyd; and Tommy Truck Service II Inc.
The agenda also shows a large number of public comments were submitted ahead of the meeting, with the Stanley Martin request receiving the most listed public comments. Public comments were also listed for Seaforth Partnership, Medina Partnership, Bumpy Oak, LMZ LLC and Lloyd.
Planning Commission members listed in attendance include Chairman Howard Thompson, Vice-Chair Joseph L. Van Kirk, Patricia Robrecht, Lynn Delahay, Jay Cousineau, Conor Loughran and Judith Fillius.
County staff listed for the meeting include Jessica S.B. Andritz, director of the Department of Land Use and Growth Management; Brandy Glenn and Courtney Jenkins, deputy directors of the department; and Gabby Gleissner, senior planning specialist.
Supporting county staff listed on the agenda include Deputy County Attorney John Sterling Houser, Department of Public Works and Transportation Director John Norris III, Anna Wells with the St. Mary’s County Metropolitan Commission, and Amy Carter, video-media producer.
The county notice states that citizens are encouraged to attend and participate in the public hearing. Written comments were required to be submitted by 2 p.m. on July 3, 2026, to the Planning Commission, attention Gabby Gleissner, P.O. Box 653, Leonardtown, MD 20650, or by email to [email protected].
The notice also states that, as a result of evidence presented and comments made during the public hearing, amendments may be proposed.
Proceedings are televised live and/or recorded for later broadcast. The county notice states that all content of the proceedings is subject to disclosure under the Maryland Public Information Act.
