Ruth Evelyn Baker, 89, of Upper Marlboro, Maryland, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend died peacefully with family by her side Wednesday July 1st at Country Home Assisted Living, Solomon’s Island Road in Harwood, Maryland.
She was born in her childhood home on Sasscer Lane, off of Croom Road in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Preceded in death by her husband Enoch, sister Virginia, brothers William, Elmer, and Merle; and her parents William and Mildred Sasscer. She is survived by sons William (Barbara), James (Donna); grandchildren Andy, Jaime (Jake) Kramer, Luke, Jessica, Camryn; and great grandson Henry.
Ruth was a devoted mother of her two sons, Billy and Jimmy; and wife supporting her husband in marriage for 63 years. She returned to the workforce with the Federal Government with a career of 20+ years at the General Services Administration of which her last role prior to retirement was as a construction contracting officer. She enjoyed that time of her life and took pride in her career accomplishments.
Her family and faith were the focal points of her life including the love, care and attention to her grandchildren. Though she has passed on, Ruth’s love for her family and friends will remain with us forever.
Family and Friends will be received on Monday July 6th from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Rausch Funeral Home 8325 Mount Harmony Lane, Owings, MD 20736.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning July 7th at 10:00 AM at Cedarville Assembly of God Church 11600 Cedarville Road Brandywine, MD 20613 with the Rev. George Dearborn officiating. Interment will follow in the graveyard adjacent to the church. The family will host a repast immediately following at the church’s chapel hall.
