Damian Michael Sisler, 29, of California, faces eight misdemeanor charges tied to alleged thefts at a Lexington Park grocery store and the discovery of suspected crack cocaine during a separate police encounter. The charges include three counts of theft under $100, two counts of theft valued from $100 to less than $1,500, one count of conducting a theft scheme involving $100 to less than $1,500, possession of a controlled substance other than cannabis and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The first group of allegations concerns four visits to Weis Market on Great Mills Road in Lexington Park on July 19, 2026. A St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office deputy responded to the store the following day and spoke with a loss prevention manager, who reportedly explained that Sisler “had entered the store on 7/19/2026 approximately 4 times and took a variety of items each time.”
Investigators said store video showed Sisler selecting two Coca-Cola sodas, a chicken sandwich and a cherry Danish shortly before 1 p.m. During a second visit shortly before 4 p.m., he allegedly selected three Coca-Cola sodas, a rotisserie chicken and an eight-piece chicken tender basket. Each of those alleged thefts was valued at less than $100.
During a third visit at about 4:56 p.m., Sisler allegedly selected four Old Spice body sprays, four Old Spice deodorants, one Old Spice body wash, four bottles of Clean Comfort shampoo, two Degree two-packs and two Dove body washes. During a fourth visit at about 7:50 p.m., he allegedly selected four Crest Gum packages, four Dove dry sprays, an Olay body spray and several Dove body wash products.
The deputy wrote that all of the merchandise was taken “past all points of sale without being paid for” and placed the total value at $364. The deputy also reported identifying Sisler by comparing the store’s video with his Maryland-issued identification. Those allegations resulted in five theft charges, including a theft-scheme count covering the combined food and hygiene products.
A separate incident began at the same Weis Market at about 7:15 a.m. on July 20, 2026. Maryland State Police alleged that Sisler entered the store, collected assorted grocery items and left without paying. A store manager reportedly recovered several items from him, but police said he left with one item valued at $9.85. The charge identifies the merchandise as a jerky wrap and dog treats.
Police said they encountered Sisler again at about 10:45 a.m. while conducting a welfare check. The trooper wrote that Sisler “was having drug induced episode” and was placed in handcuffs. During that encounter, police allegedly found a metal smoking device containing suspected crack cocaine in the front pocket of his pants. The trooper said the substance was identified through his “training, knowledge and experience.” Sisler was then taken to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center for processing.
Sisler initially appeared without an attorney and waived representation for that hearing. A judicial officer ordered him held without bond, citing a reasonable likelihood that he would not appear as required. The initial release conditions directed him not to engage in criminal activity and to appear in court when notified.
After bail review proceedings on July 21, July 22 and July 23, 2026, Sisler was released on his own recognizance on July 23. The Office of the Public Defender entered an appearance on his behalf. A court date in the theft and drug case is scheduled for September 8, 2026, in St. Mary’s District Court. A preliminary inquiry on the five additional theft charges is scheduled for August 28, 2026.
