UPDATE 1/26/2018: On Monday, January 22, 2018, Joseph Aloysious Maddox, 52, of Mechanicsville, appeared in St. Mary’s County Circuit Court and was sentenced to 10 years in prison with all but five years suspended.
Maddox entered a guilty plea to the charge of sex offense in the third-degree in August of 2017.
Maddox must also register as a Tier III (high risk) sex offender and will remain on the sex offender register for the rest of his life.
Maddox was arrested on April 16, 2017, after he solicited a 14-year-old girl for a sex. The victim admitted she and Maddox engaged in a sexual act inside his vehicle while in the area of Great Mills.
UPDATE 8/30/2017: On Friday, August 25, 2017, Joseph Aloysious Maddox, 51, of Mechanicsville, appeared in St. Mary’s County Circuit Court and entered a guilty plea to the charge of sex offense in the third-degree.
Maddox was arrested on April 16, 2017, after he solicited a 14-year-old girl for a sex. The victim admitted she and Maddox engaged in a sexual act inside his vehicle while in the area of Great Mills.
A pre-sentence investigation has been ordered.
4/24/2017: The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office received information about a possible sexual offense involving a juvenile female.
The investigation revealed on April 16, 2017, a 14-year-old victim was solicited for a sex act by an unknown male. The victim admitted she and the male engaged in a sexual act inside his vehicle while in the area of Great Mills, Maryland.
Several investigatory tools were utilized during the course of the investigation identifying Joseph Aloysious Maddox, 51, of Mechanicsville, as the male in question.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) obtained an arrest warrant for Maddox charging him with the following criminal violations:
- Sexual Solicitation of a Minor
- Sex Offense Third Degree
- Child Porn Solicit Subject
- Assault Second Degree
Maddox was located and placed under arrest. He was transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center to await a bond review before the District Court Commissioner.
