Jeffery Samuel Jones, “Jeff”, 50, of Altoona, FL formerly from Hollywood, MD passed away on April 30, 2017 in Tavares, FL. Born on August 12, 1966 in Leonardtown, MD, he was the son of the late Mildred E. Jones and Samuel A. Jones. Jeff was devoted to his wife Robin Kaye Jones who he married in Leonardtown, MD in 2002, and whom preceded him in death on June 15, 2016. Jeff is survived by his Godson Malachi Bailey of California, MD, special niece Heidi Quade, whom he was more like a father /daughter than an uncle/niece, and his dog Dixie who was his baby. Siblings: Michael E. Jones of Hollywood, MD, Barbara Jones Snavely of Great Mills, MD, Patricia Jones Stout of California, MD , Lisa Jones Price of Winchester, VA, David Paul Jones of Umatilla, FL, 14 nieces and nephews and 25 great nieces and nephews. He also leaves a host of friends in St. Mary’s County, MD as well as Lake County, Florida.
He graduated from Leonardtown High School, and worked for Kerr Automotive for 5 years as a mechanic. Jeff was an old car enthusiast and enjoyed working on his 1964 Chevelle, Jeff and his good friend Steve would take their cars out on the weekend and just get away for a while. Jeff really enjoyed life to the fullest. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends on Monday, May 8, 2017 from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM in the Mattingley-Gardiner Funeral Home Leonardtown, MD. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM in the Funeral Home Chapel with Father Ray Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in Charles Memorial Gardens Leonardtown, MD. Pallbearers will be: Terry Knott, Ricky Lathroum, Malachi Bailey, Ryan Jones, Doe Doe Chase and Jonathan Price.
