Dorothy Ann (Thomas) Bond, 74

May 16, 2017

Dorothy Ann (Thomas) Bond, 74 of Leonardtown, MD, passed away on May 8th, 2017. She was born to James Andrew Thomas and Mary Annie Elizabeth Thomas of Loveville, MD on June 8th, 1942.

Dorothy Ann was joined in holy matrimony with Joseph Arthur Bond, Sr. (Jimmy) on October 19, 1963. They were blessed with five children; Eunice V. Bond (Kelly), Joseph A. Bond, Jr., Deborah D. Briscoe (Henry), Brian (Tony) Bond (Tracey), Dwayne W. Bond (Karla); seven grandchildren, Joseph Bond III, Kaneisha Holt, Manuel (Rashad) Briscoe, Lexie Bond, Andrew Bond, Brittney Bond, Carlos Bond and one great grandchild, Laila Lynn Bond. Her grandchildren were very special to her.

Her main employment was with St. Mary’s Nursing Center as a Dietician; retiring after 28 years. Here she formed many long-lasting friendships.

Some of her favorite pastimes were tending to her plants, both inside and out, cooking (and she was very good at it), especially her famous stuffed ham that we will all miss, even dabbled in making homemade wine and watching her soap operas. She loved her soap operas so much that she had an inside nickname “young” and her sister-in-law was “restless”. If she missed out on an episode Aunt Mary Florence (Sookie) or Aunt Victoria (Toy) would fill her in. Crafts was another thing she loved doing. She was very creative and talented; making something out of nothing.

After the death of her husband, Jimmy, she tried to stay busy, staying on the road a lot with either one of her daughters or enjoying the company and hanging out with her brothers and sister in Loveville (the old homestead). If she needed a riding partner, she need only say the word … and Aunt Victoria (Toy) was right there, ready to roll out with her. She spent many hours on the phone talking with family and friends. She had a kind heart and was willing to help when she could. Once a very reserved and personal person, she came out of her shell through all of her illnesses, making friends everywhere she went and putting smiles on people’s faces with her quick wit. She was loved by many and she will be missed by many!

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eldest son, Joseph A. Bond, Jr., a brother-in-law, sister-in-law and many aunts, uncles, cousins and a niece.

Dorothy Ann leaves to cherish her memories her children, grandchildren, great grandchild and her siblings, Ella Jeffries, John Francis, Joseph Louis, Agnes Elizabeth and James Henry Thomas; five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, godchildren ,Clarence Thomas and Renee Coles and countless nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.

Family and friends will unite on Monday, May 15, 2017 for visitation at 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 29119 Point Lookout Road, Morganza, MD 20660. Interment to follow at Charles Memorial Gardens, Leonardtown, MD.
