On December 23, 2017 at approximately 5:45 p.m., Deputy Buckler of the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office responded to 4007 3rd St, North Beach, MD for the report of an unconscious person at a residence. Buckler arrived on the scene and was greeted by a 7-year-old boy who said his mom, Heatherlaura Louise Marenco, 41 of North Beach, was in the bathroom.

Upon seeing his mother passed out and not responding, the young boy called 911 and told operators that his mother was not breathing.

Buckler then made contact with Marenco in the bathroom, at which point she was awake but only “semi-alert,” according to charging documents. Marenco attempted to diffuse the situation by telling police that she was “just sleeping.” Police described Marenco as drowsy and having visible injuries to her head from a recent fall.

Marenco eventually told police that she took 2 percocet pills at 3:00 p.m. and later told then told EMS personnel that she snorted heroin.

Marenco and her son were the only ones in the residence at the time of the incident. Marenco was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital by EMS to treat her drug overdose.

The young boy stayed at the neighbor’s house util his father arrived to pick him up. The boy told EMS his mother was in the bathroom for approximately 13 minutes.

Police ultimately collected Marenco’s phone as evidence, and contacted Child Protective Services.

Based on the fact that the boy was left alone unsupervised while his mother was snorting heroin and subsequently overdosed, police charged Heatherlaura Louise Marenco with one misdemeanor count of neglecting of a minor. Marenco posted $5,000 bond and has a court date set for February 8,2018 at the Calvert County District Court.

I’ve heard of parents disagreeing over a child’s name, but I’ve never seen them just combine the 2.

Typical North Beach news item. Real news would be: North Beach Mother Found Sober and Drug Free! Now, that’s a breaking news story right there!

Aren’t junkies wonderful people and terrific role models for their children. This sorry excuse for a mom couldn’t even stay sober long enough to ensure her kid was cared for properly. If she wants to kill herself with drugs then more power to her, she just needs to keep away from her kid while doing it. He will be damaged enough with what he witnessed, imagine if he had walked in on her cold dead body.

That is Mother of the Year Award material right there! What a waste of time, these so called parents overdosing with there kids in the home. You can’t help people that don’t want to be helped, her Day is coming when help won’t be there. The only good thing will be someone else will be raising that child.
