On Monday January 22, 2018, Catherine Anne Lee, age 67 of Owings, died of complications due to lung cancer at Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Cathy was born in Washington, DC on March 22, 1950. She was 1 of 9 children born to Charles and Katherine Rock. Her family lived in Falls Church, VA and in the summer of 1966 they relocated to Rose Haven, MD where she graduated from Southern High School in 1968. She met Bill in the summer of 1967 at the Rose Haven pool. They wed November 13, 1971. After marriage, Bill and Cathy lived in Largo, Upper Marlboro, Dunkirk, MD and finally to their dream waterfront home in Owings in 1995.
She would often work night shift as her husband worked day shift raising two children Michael and Carrie. As a radiology technician she worked at several hospitals including Prince George’s Hospital Center, Greater Southeast Community Hospital, Malcolm Grove Medical Center and Calvert Memorial Hospital. Later in her career she worked part-time as a pharmacy technician at Calvert Memorial Hospital.
After her retirement Bill and Cathy enjoyed purchasing condos and conducting major renovations. She has remodeled over 7 kitchens and really had an eye for the optimal layout design. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, re-watching movies she loved, all HGTV shows, Say Yes to the Dress, and she was a die-hard Harry Potter fan. She enjoyed dinners out and cruises with her friends and family. Her love for her children and grandchildren was immeasurable which included special vacations on a Disney cruise and to Disney World. She was the glue for the extended family and really adored planning all the family reunions.
Cathy was the beloved wife of 46 years to C. William (Bill) Lee and loving mother to Michael W. Lee and wife Denice, and Carrie C. Bealefeld and husband George. She is Noni to 6 grandchildren, Andrew W. Lee, Megan M. Bealefeld, Nathan W. Lee, G. Alexander Bealefeld, Matthew W. Lee and the late Patrick W. Lee. She is also survived by her siblings, Mary McMahon (David), Thom Rock (Suzanne), Pete Rock, Betty Erickson (David), Chris Rock (Seiha), Jeanne Toebbe (Jack), Joseph Rock (Marjorie) and the late Jeff Rock; sister-in-law of Katherine “Kitty” Taylor (Charles).
Family invites friends to Lee Funeral Home Calvert, P.A., 8200 Jennifer Lane, Owings, MD 20736 on Sunday, January 28 from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 29 at 11 am at the Covenant Community of Jesus the Good Shepherd, 1601 W. Mt. Harmony Road, Owings, MD.
