Maryland Casinos Generate $127.8 Million in Revenue During January

Casino revenue increases 1.2% year over year

Maryland Lottery and Gaming today announced January 2018 revenue numbers for the state’s six casinos: Hollywood Casino Perryville in Cecil County, Horseshoe Casino Baltimore in Baltimore City, Ocean Downs Casino in Worcester County, Live! Casino in Anne Arundel County, Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Allegany County and MGM National Harbor in Prince George’s County.

Maryland’s casinos totaled $127,784,456 in revenue during January 2018. The total was an increase of $1,571,700, or 1.2%, compared to the January 2017 figure of $126,212,756. January 2018 marked the first full month in which it was possible to make a direct year-over-year comparison including all six of the state’s casinos. MGM National Harbor opened on December 8, 2016.

MGM National Harbor totaled $50,247,449 from both slot machines and table games in January. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day in January at MGM National Harbor was: $316.81 for slot machines, $5,241.82 for banked table games and $1,503.69 for non-banked table games. January 2018 revenue at MGM National Harbor increased by $1,419,314, or 2.9%, from January 2017. MGM National Harbor operates 2,710 slot machines and 173 (134 banked and 39 non-banked) table games.

Live! Casino totaled $43,542,645 from both slot machines and table games in January. Live! Casino’s gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $240.63 for slot machines, $3,197.08 for banked table games and $849.69 for non-banked table games. January 2018 revenue at Live! Casino decreased by $456,806, or 1.0%, from January 2017. Live! Casino operates 3,850 slot machines and 186 (136 banked and 50 non-banked) table games.

Horseshoe Casino Baltimore totaled $20,070,733 from both slot machines and table games in January. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $174.65 for slot machines, $1,604.27 for banked table games and $713.82 for non-banked table games. Horseshoe Casino’s January 2018 revenue decreased by $146,001, or 0.7%, from January 2017. Horseshoe Casino Baltimore operates 2,202 slot machines and 175 (154 banked and 21 non-banked) table games.

Hollywood Casino Perryville totaled $5,698,632 from both slot machines and table games in January. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $191.00 for slot machines, $1,812.73 for banked table games and $390.94 for non-banked table games. Hollywood Casino’s January 2018 revenue decreased by $71,337, or 1.2%, from January 2017. Hollywood Casino Perryville operates 822 slot machines and 21 (13 banked and 8 non-banked) table games.

Ocean Downs Casino totaled $4,543,123 from slot machines and table games in January. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $143.15 for slot machines and $1,865.01 for banked table games. Ocean Downs Casino’s January 2018 revenue increased by $866,852, or 23.6%, from January 2017. Ocean Downs Casino operates 892 slot machines and 10 banked table games. Ocean Downs Casino introduced its first table games in December 2017, and does not have non-banked table games.

Rocky Gap Casino Resort generated $3,681,874 from both slot machines and table games in January. Gross gaming revenue per unit per day was: $151.60 for slot machines and $1,044.09 for banked table games. Rocky Gap Casino Resort’s January 2018 revenue decreased by $40,321, or 1.1%, from January 2017. Rocky Gap Casino Resort operates 665 slot machines and 17 banked table games. Rocky Gap does not have non-banked table games.

Under Maryland law, casino revenue supports the Maryland Education Trust Fund, local impact grants, local jurisdictions, the state’s horse racing industry and the Maryland General Fund.
