Linda Rae Grooms Allen, 76, of White Plains, Maryland, died on January 31, 2018 at the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC.
Born on November 22, 1941 in North Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Edith Lillian Bailey Loar and Walter Cleveland Loar. Mrs. Allen graduated from Penn Commercial College in 1961. She was a Lead Financial Assistant for the U.S. Census Bureau until 2002. She enjoyed traveling with family and friends, but her greatest joy came in supporting the activities of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Richard M. Allen Sr.; sons George C. Grooms II and his wife Karen, Richard M. Allen Jr. and his wife Margaret; grandchildren Justin Allen Grooms, Brenna Rae Grooms, Lucas Michael Allen and Lillian Margaret Allen; sisters Judy Moss and Cindy Chapman.
A private service and interment will be held at a later date in Pennsylvania.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made in memory of Linda Grooms Allen in support of the Concentrated Care Unit (C63) at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and mailed to: Office of Philanthropy, 1 Main/Hospital Administration, 3800 Reservoir Rd NW, Washington, DC 20007.
