Allen Bryan Young 88, of Dunkirk passed away March 5, 2018 at his residence. He was born February 11, 1930 in War, West Virginia to Joseph Issac and Margaret Gracebelle (Harman) Young. Allen was raised in Grundy, VA and was a coal miner when he was younger. He moved to Washington, D.C. in 1950 and worked at Anacostia Sunoco before going to work for Ourisman Chevrolet, where he specialized in Chevy Corvairs. Allen then bought Allen’s ARCO in Forestville in 1969 and owned and operated Allen’s Towing out of the gas station until 1972. In 1973, he opened Allen’s Auto Service and operated that until 1984. He then went to work for Calvert County Public Schools as a school bus driver for special education students. Later he became a bus assistant for special education students. Allen was also the former assistant chief at Ritchie Volunteer Fire Department and helped lay the bricks for the fire house. Allen moved to Las Vegas in June of 2003 and married Carolyn Moore. They were married by Elvis in Vegas and returned to Maryland in November of 2008. Allen was a jack of all trades and could fix anything. He loved playing poker and spending time with his family.
Allen is survived by his wife Carolyn L. Young of Dunkirk, children Linda K. Johnston and husband Chris of Clinton, Lynn A. Young of Bel Air, TJ Green and husband Chris of Mechanicsville, Johnny B. Young of Waldorf and Russell A. Young of Lothian, step-children James Moore and wife Tina of Manassas, VA, Jason Moore and wife Hope of Lothian, Jaime Moore of Lothian and Joy Jordan and husband Derrick of Drayden, MD, 27 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Young and son William L. Young.
