UPDATE: Fatal Shooting Reported at Great Mills High School, Resource Officer Exchanged Gunfire

UPDATE: SMNEWSNET has removed the name and all photos of the 17-year-old shooter in our articles, from this point on he will be referred to as “the shooter” We feel the public should see the victims faces and remember their names. All comments have also been removed for articles related to the shooting.

UPDATE 2/20/2018 @ 11:30 a.m.: A student walked into Great Mills High School and Shot a female and male student. The School Resource Officer was notified by students of the incident who responded to the area and engaged gunfire with the shooter.

The male shooter has been confirmed deceased.

3/20/2018: On Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at approximately 8:00 a.m., emergency personnel responded to Great Mills High School for the report of a shooting.

At this time we have confirmed multiple people have been shot.

One person has been confirmed deceased.

Police are telling parents NOT to respond to Great Mills High School, report to Leonardtown High School, and your children will be brought to you there for reunification.

Police have cleared the school, and the remaining students are safe at this time.

Most of the fire and rescue units that are not transporting patients have returned to service.
