    WTF is wrong with people?
We have lost all sense of civility!

I’m sure it was an ACCIDENT!

    • Concerned citizen on July 11, 2018 at 6:19 pm

It was an accident, the little girl ran out from behind the ice cream truck.

      • Animus on July 12, 2018 at 2:09 pm

How many times do I have to say: 5 Black families living in 5 single family homes next to each other does not make a Ghetto (unless those people want it to be). People like these are as perverse in their thinking as those White retard Bundy group, either way the law does not matter to them, and more should be charged. Continued vigilantism will beget more people harmed – if I throw a cargo net over the dirt bike and 4-wheelers illegally street riding, will that be okay with everyone in the community.

        • CreepyTeddyBear on July 13, 2018 at 3:11 pm

If I see anyone throw a giant net over anyone out in public I’m gonna laugh.

  2. Anonymous on July 11, 2018 at 4:50 pm

Thy they walk down the middle of the road. Just daring for someone to hit them. I am not surprised not more are hit. The family members that pulled the old lady out should be charged with hate crime.
The article does not say. But I can best say. It was an white lady that hit a black child.
I pray all involved get proper treatment. I pray the boy is ok

    • Lynne on July 11, 2018 at 7:24 pm

Get your facts straight before opening your trap. It was a little girl who just left the ice cream truck. The old white lady whom I do know passed the ice cream truck and hit the little girl. First she should not have passed an ice cream truck in a neighborhood. The sign says STOP. The little girl did nothing wrong. In a development at That time of day kids want candy and ice cream. SLOW DOWN and pay attention. She wasn’t beaten but pulled out and pushed down. She was not hurt. But the little girl had her head dragged and her arm and leg were all messed up. So get facts straight before being ignorant. I was there.

      • no H8 on July 11, 2018 at 8:33 pm

the little girl ran into the street without looking both ways. there is jo excuse for the savages to pull a woman from her car and beat her because their child caused an accident.

      • Trash on July 11, 2018 at 9:02 pm

I would have gotten back in my car and mowed the whole family down.

        • Ray Ray on July 13, 2018 at 6:29 am

          No you wouldn’t have.

      • Concerned Citizen on July 11, 2018 at 9:16 pm

Well, the ice cream truck with a stop sign is not an official stop sign. Pedestrians ONLY have the right of way in a designated crosswalk. It was not the woman’s fault unless she was speeding or driving recklessly.

      • The voice of reason on July 11, 2018 at 9:22 pm

Get your own facts straight. The woman was taken to the hospital with INCAPACITATING injuries, meaning she could not function because she was beaten too badly. You are allowed to pass an ice cream truck. It was an accident. This is not a third world country. People are not allowed to just beat someone for making a mistake.

      • Johnny5 on July 11, 2018 at 9:23 pm

Just pushed down, but may have sustained a broken hip. Gtfoh

      • TJ on July 11, 2018 at 9:41 pm

The law states that if the ice cream truck is stopped, stop sign extended and lights flashing, a driver approaching from either direction must STOP, look and yield to anyone crossing the street BUT then may continue past the truck at a prudent rate of speed.
The law does not say you must stop and wait till the 25 neighborhoid kids in line for ice cream have made their selections, been served, made payment and received change, then cross the street to go home.
Think about that for a minute and you might figure out why you shouldn’t have jumped in and opened your trap.

        • AliceW on July 12, 2018 at 1:39 pm

Best thing to do is build a fence around the Park and don’t put a gate in it! Please list the St Marys county ordinance that regulates ice cream trucks, other than a small business license!

        • somdforever on July 12, 2018 at 11:09 pm

Cite the Maryland State Statute that says this! Go ahead; we’ll wait!

          • AliceW on July 14, 2018 at 6:48 pm

Guess we are still waiting for the statute that requires a mechanized stop sign and people to stop.

      • Doesnt matter on July 11, 2018 at 9:52 pm

It’s not aagainst the law to pass a stopped ice cream truck. It’s not like a school bus that has a swinging stop sign. Further more, it’s up to the parents to watch said child and make sure they are looking both ways before crossing a street. While I feel for the child and the parents, I also feel for the 72 year old that was beat by people over an accident. I have 3 kids, if one of my kid was in this situation, i would not act like an animal and beat the person that hit my kid, my first concern would be my child.

      • Ray Ray on July 11, 2018 at 10:33 pm

Racist POS (old white lady). In what world is it ok to pull someone out of a vehicle and “push them down?” There is no law stipulating that you have to stop for an ice cream truck. Who’s the ignoramus?

      • Anonymous on July 11, 2018 at 10:42 pm

Good for you. He is a fact. That comment was made before the revised the article and it said a 10 yr old child and that the old lady was dragged out of her vehicle and beaten.

      • Anonymous on July 11, 2018 at 11:31 pm

So it was ok to beat her up. Wtf is wrong with you animals.

        • AliceW on July 14, 2018 at 6:54 pm

I wouldn’t bet on any group of people around here where it would be safe till the police arrive. These people don’t seem to understand it is against the law to touch anyone without their permission and that includes shaking hands!

      • Lynne2 on July 12, 2018 at 5:17 am

So get facts straight before being ignorant.

      • SonjaD on July 12, 2018 at 6:09 am

What sign says STOP? It’s an ice cream truck, not the school bus. Look both ways before you cross the street, there are 2000lb cars out there that may or may not be able to stop because you’re not paying attention. How about integrity and personal responsibility? How about a 10 year old being accompanied by an adult? They don’t want to do that, but will be the first to blame someone else if/when something happens.

It doesn’t matter if the woman was beaten or not, NO ONE had any business putting their hands on her. No I wasn’t there, you were of course and so were dozens of other adults each with a different story. The fact that all of those adults were at home during the week in the middle of the afternoon is a different story.

        • Rosalyn on July 13, 2018 at 12:15 pm

        • . on July 12, 2018 at 9:12 am

To be fair, that depends on which direction the vehicle is coming from. If a child passes in front of the ice cream truck, that child will not be visible to someone in a vehicle who is approaching from the rear of the ice cream truck.

      • Anonymous on July 12, 2018 at 8:10 am

last time I check… Ice Cream trucks don’t have stop signs that pop out.

      • . on July 12, 2018 at 9:28 am

Only a racist would acknowledge race in this accident. White people, who are judged and considered racist just because of their skin color, see a child and a woman. Black people, who are allowed to be as racist as they want, see a BLACK child and a WHITE woman. That is sad. Take a look in the mirror and stop pointing fingers and projecting your racism on everyone else.

Think about it. Black people always make race a prominent part of everything. White people dont see colors, they see people. Black people see color. Look at the black panther and michelle obamas comments. She said, I dont have the exact quote, finally black kids have a super hero that looks like them. Are you effing kidding??? Are you telling me black kids dont see Superman, they see white superman? Black kids dont see batman, they see white batman? I dont know anyone that ever “noticed” that superman is white, nor do they give a f**k. Take your advice and stop looking at color

        • Lets not pretend on July 12, 2018 at 8:29 pm

Now this is super crazy. That one is so privileged not to see color. No as a child I noticed that Barbie’s hair was nice and straight and not kinky like mine, and yes I would like a role model that looks like me too. I noticed Strawberry short cake’s only black friend looked like me with kinky curly hair. I noticed that the show the bachelor has never had a black bachelor that we just now had our first black president. In 2018 its crazy that we still have the first black anything. My dad remembers drinking from the black water fountain that wasn’t centuries ago. So lets not pretend that color lines are not there. Pretending that color lines don’t exist is the white privilege. Now this didn’t have to be a race issue, I’m pretty sure that family would have done the same thing to someone who was black. They were working on high emotions, and that is the problem here people not able to control emotions and acting before thinking. NOBODY deserves to be pulled from their car “pushed down” beaten or whatever if she was at fault that is for the authorities to decide. My final point is this for everyone on here who like me feel compelled to comment on threads.. RACE is an issue… because we continue to let it be an issue. St. Mary’s county is one of the most racist places I have ever lived. It never ends because we refuse to treat each other as equals. Your skin color does not dictate your ability to obey the law, nor does your political party. So lets just say something awful happened a child was hurt and that is called an accident a woman was hurt and that was a crime. Nothing more nothing less!

          • dopehater on July 12, 2018 at 11:36 pm

            Well said.

          • Ray Ray on July 13, 2018 at 6:28 am

If it’s so racist here and you can’t stand it maybe you should move? I would bet one of my paychecks that if the driver had been black, the story wouldn’t have included a beat down on the driver. Instead of blaming everyone else for problems that the black community created, maybe they should look in a mirror to see where the true problem lies.

      • Dsve on July 12, 2018 at 2:52 pm

Glad you were there to set us straight with that facts. I see you responded to the comment with everything except that fact that the animals that beat the old lady are black. I don’t know if they are or not but maybe next time you want to correct someone and tell them to get the facts, you should state all the facts yourself.

      • Anonymous on July 12, 2018 at 5:33 pm

Racists jerk…… white lady…. where in this whole story ward color involved. Wonder if it had been the neighborhood drug dealer would you have pulled him from his car? Pick on an old WHITE lady (as you called her). wish I would have seen them pulling her out of her car and putting hands on her. They should have been more worried about the condition of the little girl. Sad thing it was family acting this way. The woman pulled over and wasn’t leaving….

      • Anonymous on July 12, 2018 at 6:48 pm

      • It’s on VIDEO! on July 12, 2018 at 7:20 pm

According to an eyewitness, VIDEO, the women was completely innocent, not speeding! The child ran in the road and a vile worthless waste of space that should be eradicated from society yelled racial slurs as he beat her!

      • somdforever on July 12, 2018 at 11:05 pm

In my 66 years, I have NEVER seen an ice cream truck that has a STOP sign on it. First of all, if they have one, it’s not legal. So get your facts straight before opening your big trap! So you want to try and justify someone pulling the lady out of her vehicle and pushing her down as not being a crime? Where the hell do you get off thinking that behavior is justified? It was a freaking accident, but I guess that just wouldn’t fit your agenda, would it? So you were there. So what? When the thug pulled the old woman out and assaulted her, did you call the police? Or were you just too busy recording it on your cell phone? You are one pathetic excuse for a human being!

      • Anonymous on July 14, 2018 at 11:56 am

It doesn’t say stop actually! and there is no reason that these ignorant people should have pulled this elderly lady out when the parents should have taught the girl to look both ways before running through the street let alone leaving her alone. That is on them. Also as someone pointed out earlier these people walk in the street with no care in the world. And if you actually read the report, they pulled her out of the car and beat her and she wasn’t speeding at all so actually you need to get your facts straight.

  3. Werwe on July 11, 2018 at 4:55 pm

  4. Buford T Justice on July 11, 2018 at 5:06 pm

This is definitely a head scratcher, too many possibilities where to lay blame.

  5. Anonymous on July 11, 2018 at 5:11 pm

She wasn’t beaten. Maybe if she wasn’t flying through the neighborhood and hit her after leaving the ice cream truck no one would be mad. But she hit her hard and the police were worried about the driver and not the little girl who had to be flown out. The driver had no marks on her what so ever. The little girl on the other hand had to be flown out. Let start reporting the truth and not fiction. But I will say this if the little girl was white and the driver was black the driver would be in handcuffs and not babied. If your gonna report at least get it right.

    • Tre on July 11, 2018 at 5:24 pm

It’s racially motivated. The older lady was lightskinnex and the mob was very dark complexioned. That’s why they acted out. It’s very typical.

      • Concerned citizen on July 11, 2018 at 6:18 pm

The lady was a 70 year old white woman. That now has a possible broken hip, needed stitches and has a concussion. From 5 men and 1 woman assualting her.

        • Lynne on July 11, 2018 at 7:27 pm

If her hip was broken how was she walking fine. And no cuts. So take your racial crap and shove it. It was one guy. Yes the family was mad because she was speeding and hit an innocent beautiful little girl. Doesn’t matter if she was black or whit. And the family member was light skinned. Again get facts straight. This is why racism is so bad. People running their mouth without facts.

Just because the little girl was flown our dies not mean she had serious injuries. Maryland protocol for ems states that given the mexhamism of injruy a Pediatric center is warranted for this age group and since the closest one is over an hour a half away from the Park Helicopter transport may be utilized.

    • Nikki on July 11, 2018 at 11:17 pm

I’m not saying it’s her full responsibility but do you not think a 10 year old child should take some responsibility in looking before she walked out from behind the ice cream truck? And as far as i know, people do not have to stop at an ice cream truck. Do you know how long it could take if there are 5-10 kids ordering before all the cars are allowed to go? That doesn’t make sense. I don’t see where the report states she was speeding but if she was, she is wrong for that. However it was still an accident and there is no need to get violent with the lady when the family member(s) should be more concerned about the child who is hurt so badly. The entire situation is tragic but it should have never escalated the way it did.

    • Seriously??? on July 12, 2018 at 9:17 am

Are you freakin kidding me???? WTF!!! It says the 72 year old woman was transported with INCAPACITATING INJURIES!! Yet you say several times that she wasn’t hurt and didn’t have a scratch on her. Are you insane??? Or just blind? In addition – her hitting the girl was an accident. The family assaulting the ELDERLY woman was NOT an accident. So regardless of color – there is a clear distinction here that you are ignoring.

    • Anon on July 12, 2018 at 11:53 am

Sadly you might be right about the last part, but the police also wouldn’t have “babied” her had she not been assaulted in the first place. The adults there should have acted like adults, but apparently failed to keep the kid out of oncoming traffic, and then were apparently more concerned about punishing the driver than taking care of the child. If the driver was at fault for what happened, it won’t even matter now- it’s her assailants’ fault that sympathy and focus are now being drawn away from the little girl. And if she wasn’t at fault, then what happened to her is extra-terrible. Hoping for speedy recoveries and justice for all!

Right, and how about if the kids parents were with the child getting icecream in the middle of the rd the child would more then likely be fine. Kids done pay attention and stop signs and laws mean nothing but us as parents show be looking out for our children and protecting them now taking it out on others in any way shape or form.no matter what color age or background we should all look out for each other instead of teaching our kids to handle things this way. Bottom line is dont walk in the street like some damn hoodlums n this won’t happen. If this child was taught some common sense this wouldnt have happened. This is a 10 year old were talking about who should know better. Hopefully this poor child heals from this. But this isnt the drivers fault nor the childs fault this is the parents fault for not properly teaching their child common sense.

If you don’t know what happened stfu. This little girl is beyond intelligent. She was getting ice cream from the truck where a stop sign is out. Which means all vehicles stop in case you didn’t know just like a bus. She went to cross and the dumb lady sped up instead of slowing down. If she was driving speed limit baby girl would’ve made it across. No sympathy for her stupidity when you clearly saw those kids crossing and the sign

      • Adam 12 on July 12, 2018 at 11:08 am

Wrong. You are not required to stop for an ice cream truck. Try again.

      • Joe on July 12, 2018 at 11:18 am

Was the girl using a crosswalk? If not, then she is to blame. If the driver that hit her was impaired by drug or alcohol or operating the vehicle in an illegal manner (speeding, racing, etc) then blame is shared. If the girl was in a crosswalk then the driver is solely responsible as you are to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. You can pass commercial vehicles parked on the street. You cannot pass them if they are yielding to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. MD driving code is clear on this.

      • Genius on July 12, 2018 at 1:09 pm

Seriously? Since when do ice cream trucks have the same laws as school buses? Beyond intelligent? Um k.
REPORT STATES SPEED WAS NOT A FACTOR . Since when do ice cream trucks have the pop out stop signs? Also states that the ice cream truck was parked on opposite side of street.

Please…let’s all keep it real and beat each other up because that’s how we roll, beyond intelligent.

      • werwe on July 12, 2018 at 2:03 pm

Wrong. There is no law you have to stop for an ice cream truck.

      • KeepItReal on July 15, 2018 at 12:58 am

What is the speed limit on that street? You say the lady didn’t stop at all? That she actually sped up? That’s what’s your saying right? Did it ever occur to you or the people that beat her that maybe she didn’t even see the kids? Because maybe she’s an elderly woman at the age of 72yrs old! Hearing and sight start going in your 50’s, she stopped and got out of her car to see what she had hit, well that’s because she didn’t know what she hit because she probably can’t see because maybe she’s just a blind old bat! Doesn’t mean she deserved to be beaten!! Means she’s deserves to be questioned and given a driving exam again. If she can’t pass it, then she doesn’t get her license back, not has to lay in bed and heal from a broken pelvis. If she sped up KNOWING the girl was there, then she was wrong. She deserves to have charges pressed against her, but I seriously doubt she even seen the little girl, because what 72yr old woman says oh there’s a kid crossing the street let me just step on the gas and go faster and plow her down! Get effing real!! My point is it was obviously an accident EVEN if she was speeding, it wasn’t done on purpose, but what those adults did was 100% on purpose and that is animalistic behavior whether you want to freggn admit it or not!! Not sure if they would have done the same to a black person or not, don’t care, can’t prove it was a hate crime, but sure as hell can prove how they reacted and how they reacted was like straight up animals with no control over their selves and no moral compass!! You wanna bitch about her speeding being wrong? How about bitch about their malicious animal like behavior that was intentionally done!!!

      • Anonymous on July 13, 2018 at 11:46 pm

I agree, all the people who claim not to racists are at the same time saying things like to call them animals is an insult to animals. Insinuating that because they are black a women being beaten is because black people are ignorant. Or how about the genius who stated that the young lady was “writing like a hood rat” all prove that racism is very real. Now correct me if I’m wrong the first person who commented on this I’m gussing a white gentleman brought race up. But black people are always being accused of pulling the race card! To me regardless of color the situation should have been handled differently. Also I see just as many white people living in that neighborhood who are as well, on public assistance and drugs that are just as much of a hood rat as you say. Circumstances don’t have color.

  21. Citizen on July 11, 2018 at 7:01 pm

Not to minimize the situation, but 85% of people injured in an automobile accident without life threatening injuries in St Mary’s & Southern Calvert County tend to air lifted to a trauma center. If the child was properly supervised I’m sure this all could of been avoided. No human in their right mind is going to intentionally hit a child just because they were in the road, I believe there’s more to this story then what is stated.

  22. Anonymous on July 11, 2018 at 7:05 pm

It was an accident. I dont think the driver tried to hit the child. Keep your hands to yourself and let the police do their jobs

  23. Nana on July 11, 2018 at 7:06 pm

First off, I am really sorry to hear this. I hope the little girl is going to be okay. I live in a neighborhood too that people drive too fast through the neighborhood, especially when they come around the cul-de-sac. SLOW THE HELL DOWN, there are kids playing and animals that may run out. It is ridiculous and really pisses me off. Also, I have seen children think they don’t have to get out of an oncoming car’s way. I have had some children actually slap the back of my vehicle as I drove through. Parent’s need to teach their kids to watch out for cars and to move off the road as well. I am sure the old woman didn’t mean to hit her, I don’t think anyone plans on hitting a child on purpose. It was a little much to drag her out of a car and smack her around. I would think the main focus of the family should have been on the well being of the child.

    • Night Owl on July 12, 2018 at 3:15 am

Well-put response. There are so many factors at play here… no matter how fast or slow the driver was going, she was completely wrong to pass the ice cream truck with disregard. Don’t they normally have stop signs attached, just like school buses? I know the law may not apply to them in the same way, but they shouldn’t be treated differently. Furthermore, her age unfortunately may have contributed to her error. Finally, the family should not have laid a hand on the driver, whether they pulled her, pushed her, beat her up, etc. But… we don’t know the whole story. Maybe the driver was confrontational somehow. Hard to believe, but still. It’s not hard to imagine how the victim’s family might react violently in this situation… doesn’t make it right or civil, though.

Why does race have to be in the forefront of this story? White, Black, someone said “light skinned”, what the hell is wrong with you people? And then to drag a woman out of her car to beat on her for hitting this child. How/Why was the child hit, was anyone without a bias edge to the story asked what they saw? Obviously, the people in the house didn’t. But, they come out the house to deliver what they want, “ass kicking”. What would or have you accomplished for assaulting this woman? A child injured and you folks involved with assault need to be arrested. May this child remain in Gods’ hands for healing.

  33. Anonymous on July 11, 2018 at 9:16 pm

Hey did anyone possibly think that it could truly be an accident?
    Not something racial.
If the little old lady was speeding through the neighborhood then yes she is wrong…but the child ran into the road without looking to..so she is wrong too ..she is just a child..and the older lady is just an older lady (probably with delayed responses)
I am sure the lady feels bad about hitting a child ..who wouldn’t but

(Unintelligible) The old lady was going over 40 and drug the little girl, and was not going to stop. Nobody assaulted the old lady. The lady was not speeding the young girl came out from the truck running and ran right into the ladies suv.
I do believe that race had something to do with it on the families part. They used racial slurs towards her when they pulled her out of her truck. She did have a broken hip and some bruising and cuts and was taken to the hospital…

I rented from Linda, the elderly woman driving. For over seven years.
She definitely wasn’t racists and I don’t believe for anything she would hurt anyone, especially a child. Not intentionally. She worked with me to get in her home. My credit was shot then, was in the middle of a horrific divorce and raising five kids alone.
She even let me slide on the numerous late fees I incurred the first 2yrs of living there and brought my kids Easter baskets and Christmas gifts. She was/is a good woman.
Please check local street camera, if there were any. I’m confident you will the kid running out in front of her. Terrible accident, but not her fault

First of all, prayers for the little girl & the lady that hit her. I agree that a 10 year old should know better, you LOOK before you cross the street. Either way it is a sad situation. Sad that the family decided to beat an elderly lady and not tend to the child that was hit. At that point you should be helping the child and not focused on fighting. It just goes to show they were looking for a fight. I’ve passed MANY ice cream trucks, they aren’t a school bus and you don’t have to stop and wait for them.

The lady wasn’t dragged out the car everybody should be focused on the little girl. What happened to the woman yes things got a little out of hand but it was all because everybody was emotional about what happened and it don’t matter what color we are we all bleed red

    • Anonymous on July 12, 2018 at 10:17 am

Got a little out of hand!?! No, they got a lot out of hand when the woman ended up in the hospital too. Regardless of how this happened, I’m sure the woman didn’t purposely hit that child and did not deserve the abuse of the family/friends. The concern/emotion should have been on the child, not punishing the woman. I wasn’t there, I don’t know what happened but I’m sure it wasn’t intentional. I have a 10-yr-old and I teach them to stop and look both ways before going into a street, parking lot, anything, but they don’t always practice good judgement…because they’re 10. Kids don’t always practice what we teach. I agree, race shouldn’t matter either, and the racism is horrible on this thread, but lets not pacify what these people did. The focus should be on BOTH of them now, not only the child. I hope they BOTH make a full recovery.

    • TellItLikeItIs on July 12, 2018 at 3:12 pm

Ms. Glaser was my English teacher at Chopticon. She was one of the nicest people you’d ever want to meet. She wouldn’t hurt a fly. I’m sure this was an accident and its a shame that people didn’t treat it as such. Praying for the little girl and Ms. Glaser. What a wicked world we live in. St. Mary’s County is the most racist I’ve ever seen it. And I’m talking about all races.

  59. Christy on July 12, 2018 at 10:48 am

Why wasn’t the parent with their child at the ice cream truck? Ignorant people want to blame an old woman accidentally hitting their child when they purposely allowed their child out there with no supervision!

    • Anonymous on July 12, 2018 at 9:04 pm

Do you have children? If so, are you honestly telling me that you never let little Johnny or Susie out of your sight for one second at that age? You were outside with them at all times? I have kids and I didn’t stay outside with them all the time. If you don’t have kids, then you have no right to judge what another parent does.

  60. Smh on July 12, 2018 at 10:54 am

Some of the responses on here are just ignorant. This is a horrible accident that I have feared would happen for a long time now. Everyone speeds through this neighborhood but the worst part about it is the children are unsupervised 95% of the time. Regardless of race class or gender pray for those affected and maybe now something will get done about the speeders. Kids shouldn’t be watching kids! Please teach your children safety and also SLOW DOWN NO MATTER IF YOUR IN THE “HOOD” or SUBURBS.

    • Anonymous on July 12, 2018 at 3:13 pm

Those hoodrats and ghetto POS parents let all their little kids run rampant around there no supervision whatsoever and they block the road when u ask them to move they cuss you out! The ghetto mothers are some straight up loser pieces of shi#. Just like this kids mother.

  61. Anonymous on July 12, 2018 at 10:55 am

Kids jump out all the time with no care in the world and no parents around but first to get upset if they get hit but will curse you out and won’t move

  62. Anonymous on July 12, 2018 at 11:04 am

Racial or not two people got hurt and all we can do is wish for full recovery. These are humans animals kill. We got enough racism in the world. I don’t care if they were blue and pink chill with the racist remarks these are humans.

  63. Anonymous on July 12, 2018 at 11:20 am

I am black and will never approve of no one putting there hands on an elderly person..i dont care what she did..and i am sure that child ran out without looking both ways. Even if she did an accident is a accident….lock up all those animals……wrong is wrong..i dont care what race you are!!!!

  64. Anonymous on July 12, 2018 at 11:36 am

The whole lot of y’all are gonna be upset when this site gets off the duffs to update this store to say alcohol and speed weren’t factors in the crash. Hint hint parental neglect.

  65. Anonymous on July 12, 2018 at 11:40 am

I lived over there for three years and I will say this. First problem is parents do not monitor their children. That’s a fact. Children of all ages roam freely. Frankly its sad. Another problem the community does not respect that neighborhoods youth. They are children. Stop speeding thru there as if their lives don’t matter. Third family is all most of them have in this neighborhood, they responded that way clearly because this woman was in the wrong think about it. She was more than likely speeding and hit this baby. Doesn’t make it right. If you see your baby hit and hurt. You can’t imagine what your response would be simply because half of us responding weren’t there. Prayers for the families and both that are injured. The driver needs to be charged. Whom ever attacked the driver needs to be charged. Argue? About what. It won’t heal either of these people. St. Marys is all talk no change. So stfu.

Question for you, and IT IS off topic. I’m interested in your posted name… Do you have any ties to St. Lo?

Regardless of race, all blood is red and love for a child is pure. Reactions of people in desperate times is unpredictable. None of us know how we will respond. Seeing a horrific scene of your loved one. We have all heard false news. Unless you were the you don’t know what happened. As I understand the driver lives in this community, and has for a long time. Anyone having a driver’s license should be aware of children, especially around school buses and ice cream trucks, it is summer. To say not a law to stop and slowly go around only makes sense. Not all laws are right, school buses not having seatbelts does not make sense, for example.

  68. Courtney on July 12, 2018 at 12:14 pm

Off no one should comment not knowing all detials. Me being someone who was there the 72 year old women was wrong completely and according to invesagators n not some news speed was a factor. Second off there were adults outside giving supervision. Ppl want to make comments bout the family is black and that’s why the women was assaulted no let’s talk bout if a black person hit a white child n same exact situation the black driver would have gone right to jail. N for more information the whole family nor a male assaulted that women so again you shouldn’t comment not knowing what u r talking bout. That old women is in the wrong no matter how u try and blame the child or parents. That child did nothing wrong n another fact the ice cream truck was in the middle of rd not on the side so the women was going to fast n not paying attention ant it common knowledge when u c a icecream truck stopped serving kids to pay attention. The ignorance of you ppl not knowing all facts and placing blame where it is not due.

    • Anonymous on July 12, 2018 at 8:49 pm

If you can’t write or spell correctly, how is anyone supposed to take what you have to say seriously?

And by the way…most of the information comes DIRECTLY FROM THE POLICE REPORT. The police stated speed was NOT a factor. Next argument?

    • Anonymous on July 15, 2018 at 1:09 pm

That is the problem you people should learn how to go school first!!

      Courtney,

One things clear, your just another typical “hands up dont shoot” eye witness trapped on your own delusional plantation! ITS ON VIDEO! NO SPEEEDING, THE WOMEN STOPPED, THE CHILDS FAMILY BEAT HER WHILE SCREAMING RACIAL SLURS.THE IGNORANCE OF PATHETIC ANIMALS ALWAYS CRYING VICTIM ALSWAYS WANTIN HANDOUTS! (

  70. BeCool on July 12, 2018 at 12:34 pm

Oh boy… Speed Not a Factor. Prapare for all of the cop bashing hood rats to appear.

  71. Opinions < Facts on July 12, 2018 at 12:40 pm

The child was 10; just a baby really. She did not deliberately run in front of a car to purposely get hit. She just wanted an ice cream. Maybe she should have been paying more attention crossing the area but it was an accident regardless.

The driver did not deliberately hit the child. The last thing on her mind that day was hitting and possibly killing a little child buying ice cream. Maybe she should have been paying more attention but it was an accident regardless.

What WAS on purpose, that should not have happened, was the elderly, 72 year-old lady, being dragged out and beaten by an adult(s) to the point where she has a broken pelvis, concussion, stitches and whatever else. This is not how a normal, intelligent, civil adult behaves regardless of how upset they may be. (Also, her/his children, if s/he has any, sees their parent(s) behaving this way and everyone wonders why the kids end up bullies…your children copy what they are taught.)

Horrible accident, horrible accident, deliberate and violent attack of an elderly person. Hopefully whoever attacked the woman ends up in jail.

Well said. Bravo . A lone voice of sanity in the wilderness.

Of course, the haters are still going to hate and try to lay blame on someone else for their own actions but your comment is truth, ignored or not.

    • AliceW on July 12, 2018 at 8:16 pm

Why was the child allowed to cross the street without supervision. This is poor parenting just like the idiot that took a gun to school and killed someone. That was poor parenting and the parents should be charged with murder and jailed. The County Commission needs to address the Park and Great Mills area and clean it up. Until that is done billboards need to go up advising the area is a no go zone due to totally out of control people, lack of parenting and children to stupid to cross a street.

  72. Concerned on July 12, 2018 at 1:04 pm

Funny how she dragged from the vehicle and beaten, when a 23 year old man is being charged. Speed and Alcohol was not a factor in the collision. So looks like all these eye witnesses need there eyes checked.

    • Concerned on July 12, 2018 at 1:05 pm

Sorry was supposed to say funny how she wasn’t..

      • Try again!!!!! on July 12, 2018 at 7:26 pm

The child ran out in the road. The family yelled racial slurs and beat the women over the lack of parental responsibility. Sorry to all the “hands up don’t shoot” and “can’t breathe” witness that say otherwise, well the video gotcha again!

        • Malcolm X on July 13, 2018 at 10:02 am

If it was reversed and it was a white guy; instant hate crime. Double standard. There’s that white privilege all you BLM people are always talking about. Oh wait, the guy was black……my bust.

  73. Jean Weeks on July 12, 2018 at 1:20 pm

Pure stupidity and hatred I have for the individual that pulled this elderly lady from her car and knocher down!!! I’m glad to hear the girl is doing ok, But PURPOSELY HURTING AN ELDER, disgusts me!!!

  74. Keep It Real on July 12, 2018 at 1:55 pm

A caricature of black culture has overtaken the black community. This senseless need to seperate themselves from regular Americans has to stop now. Constant asinine behavior should never be condoned, and should be condemned harshly and swiftly by the community as a whole.

REMEMBER: Redneck and Ghetto aren’t too far apart, both should be harshly critized for their ‘proud bases’ of stupidity and ignorance(s).

Education is the only way out!

  75. AliceW on July 12, 2018 at 2:09 pm

Good to know the ten year old was not drinking or on drugs. Unlike some of the people that posted on the thread claiming a Maryland traffic control and equipment law for ice cream trucks.

  76. ziggy on July 12, 2018 at 2:34 pm

accidents happen everyday, it’s called and accidents because it was not intended, on the other hand pulling a old woman from a car and pushing her down is a intended act to cause harm, as a old lady myself if I’m pulled from a car and push down it’s going to cause injury to me, it could even break bones. So whoever that asshole is need to be up on assault charges. Thankfully the child is going to be okay

  77. matrix on July 12, 2018 at 3:23 pm

SMNEWSNET has also learned that criminal charges are expected to be filed on a 23-year-old male from Lexington Park today for the assault of Linda Glaser, 72, of Lexington Park.

finally they report some good news on this,

    • AliceW on July 13, 2018 at 7:25 am

It is a shame they reported the victims name as the idiots can search her out to continue this blaming others for the poor parenting of a 10 year old that can’t safely cross a street. The County Commission should provide perfection for her as they have allowed that area to fester for over twenty years.

    • Chris hague on July 13, 2018 at 2:26 pm

Lets get that done. No one should walk free in this society that think its ok to assualt a 72 year old woman….anyone that laid a hand on that lady should be arrested…and forced to pay her medical bills….how dare anyone think its ok to take another’s liberty and right to live at that age..when just walking is hard to do is beyond me….shame on you people….any 10 year old should KNOW to look both ways before entering a road…..

  78. Les on July 12, 2018 at 7:45 pm

A Gofundme account should be started for the 72 year old lady. If she actually lives in that neighborhood then she deserves to live the rest of her life in a safer, nicer place where the threat of being beaten for an accident won’t happen. Normal society does not behave this way. This is way beyond the norm and people trying to justify the beating of an elderly person, black or white, is pure evil. I would not want to live among people who think this is okay, and I’m pretty sure it would not have happened if the driver had not been white and unable to defend herself. After reading this, if I’m driving in Lexington Park and hit someone, I’m not getting out of my vehicle until the police arrive. Someone only gets hit about once a month on Great Mills road, and they aren’t children. Six months from now, or the rest of her life, the 72 year old could still be suffering from health issues from this. Lots of elderly people end up dying from broken hips, so her pelvis break could end up life threatening. The 10 yr old? A distant memory in 6 months. Maybe she’ll hesitate before running out in front of cars though, or her parents take an active roll in keeping her safe.

AGREED! LET IT BE KNOWN, GOD FORBID A CHILD DART OUT IN FRONT OF ME IN THE GHETTO, I WILL NOT STOP AND WOULD SUGGEST IF YOUR WHITE, KEEP DRIVING UNTIL A COP REACHES YOU BUT RATHER CALL POLICE OR GET ATTACHED BY A PACK OF WOLVES!

    • Wild Rob on July 13, 2018 at 2:32 pm

This is a accident all the way around. Please bless all involved. This is the problem with the world today. You talking about a 10 year old, An old lady, A young black man and a black neighborhood. Social media is bad with this stuff. I will say this, I grew up in a predominantly black sub division mainly middle income in the late 70,80,90s people called our development getto!!! Funny thing I remember is our parents were around had money etc. the same as others and stuff like this happened back then too. I feel sorry for all parties involved.

Unless it music comedy or sports,i feel people have a tendency to look down on blacks(african americans)for anything they do :(.

Remember this could happen in Leonard’s Grant too!!!

Embrace culture no matter the color and you may learn something
      You didn’t know before.

Now it ok for Blacks to attack a 72 years old white lady!!!! If this the other way around we will have “black lives matters” at its gangs crying about and the media covering this events. It is sad how racism is portrayed in this country.
