Casino gaming revenue contributes $60.4 million to the state
Maryland Lottery and Gaming announced that August 2018 gaming revenues for the state’s six casinos totaled $146,291,028, an increase of $8,810,997 (6.4%) compared to the August 2017 total of $137,480,031.
Contributions to the State of Maryland from August 2018 casino gaming revenue totaled $60,365,283, including $45,281,456 for the Education Trust Fund. Casino gaming revenues also support local communities and jurisdictions where the six casinos are located, as well as Maryland’s horse racing industry.
Maryland has six privately owned casinos that offer both slot machines and table games: MGM National Harbor in Prince George’s County; Live! Casino & Hotel in Anne Arundel County; Horseshoe Casino Baltimore in Baltimore City; Hollywood Casino Perryville in Cecil County; Ocean Downs Casino in Worcester County; and Rocky Gap Casino Resort in Allegany County.
Five of the six casinos saw year-over-year increases compared to their August 2017 gaming revenue totals:
MGM National Harbor (3,133 slot machines, 198 table games)
$58,310,929 in August 2018, an increase of $5,435,121 (10.3%) from August 2017.
Live! Casino & Hotel (3,989 slot machines, 202 table games)
$47,048,526 in August 2018, an increase of $2,290,456 (5.1%) from August 2017.
Horseshoe Casino Baltimore (2,202 slot machines, 167 table games)
$21,018,572 in August 2018, a decrease of $803,129 (3.7%) from August 2017.
Hollywood Casino Perryville (822 slot machines, 22 table games)
$6,578,172 in August 2018, an increase of $325,379 (5.2%) from August 2017.
Ocean Downs Casino (892 slot machines, 18 table games)
$8,270,109 in August 2018, an increase of $1,326,530 (19.1%) from August 2017.
Rocky Gap Casino Resort (665 slot machines, 17 table games)
$5,064,720 in August 2018, an increase of $236,641 (4.9%) from August 2017.
