Drug House in Clements Declared a Nuisance

December 5, 2018

The County Attorney’s Office for St. Mary’s County and the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office announce the successful civil prosecution to have the property located at 24550 Horse Shoe Road in Clements declared a Nuisance.

A Nuisance means a property that is used by persons for the specific purpose of illegally administering a controlled dangerous substance; for the illegal distribution of a controlled dangerous substance or controlled paraphernalia; or for the illegal storage or concealment of a controlled dangerous substance or controlled paraphernalia.

On Nov. 14, 2018, several officers testified in the District Court for St. Mary’s County as to the long history of the property being used by persons to sell and use illegal drugs.

The Honorable John Slade III declared the property a Nuisance and ordered several individuals who have previously used and sold illegal drugs from the property to permanently vacate the property. In addition, the property’s owners, Juanita Chase, Francis Price and Carol Price, have been ordered to submit to the court within 30 days a plan of correction to ensure the property will not again be used for a Nuisance. Failure to comply with the court order could result in proceedings for contempt or other relief, including having the property sold under appropriate circumstances.

Sheriff Tim Cameron and Acting County Attorney David A. Weiskopf praised Sheriff Deputies for their work in researching and investigating the case. Weiskopf also thanked Assistant County Attorney James L. Tanavage who brought the civil action to declare the property a Nuisance.

And they should. Who wants to live around a bunch of druggies

    • Roger on December 5, 2018 at 9:12 am

The county isnt taking it. The property owners are losing it at auction when they don’t stop the drug business. Don’t blame shift the blame.

    • Anonymous on December 5, 2018 at 10:41 am

They should. Not only have they sold drugs out of that house for years, the occupants and the scumbag customers use the private driveways of the other residents on Horse Shoe as drop points for illegal transactions from vehicles. Usually leaving behind paraphernalia and garbage for the residents children and owners to discover. They should bulldoze the place.

    • Resident on December 5, 2018 at 10:59 am

As they should. Drugs have not only been dealt out that “house” for years, but also in the private driveways of the other residents of Horse Shoe. Those scumbags and their customers use driveways along the road as drop points and meeting locations to transact from vehicles, usually leaving behind garage and paraphernalia for the residents children to come across.
It’s about time something has been done by the Sheriffs Department. Lock up the owners too; they knew what was transpiring.

Just tear it down. If you sell it the previous owners may get vengeful and damage it, if you let it sit vacant the crackheads will keep coming.

    • Repeater on December 5, 2018 at 7:19 pm

The owners are the relatives of the losers that sell and stockpile that junk in that house and the one next to it. The Price boys…trash.

You sound like someone who has information the Sheriffs Dept would be very interested in. I’m sure you have done the right thing and spoken with them. If not, clear your conscience and do so. I great burden will be lifted from your shoulders, knowing you have done the right thing.

Congratulations St. Mary’s County for this move. This is an unpleasant circumstance to resolve to the satisfaction of the community and the property owners. Your actions are for the greater good of the law abiding tax paying citizens. If law enforcement and the DEA would take more aggressive action on local and National levels with the encouragement and support of their communities we might send these criminal on the run. Great job!

Roger stuck a duck you probably was one that called police you snitch

  20. Sofa_King_Kewl on December 6, 2018 at 9:46 pm

    So, Sheriff Timmy

You know where the drugs are sold. You know who’s doing the selling. And I bet with a little detective work, you could ascertain the time of day these drugs are being sold.

Now, and I applaud the court for doing so, the onus is back on the property owner (and therefore the community) to put an end to the criminal activity.

So then, I expect we can see the good Sheriff issuing a good many “shall issue” permits for the good citizens to perform the task the judge has required them to do?
