Police Investigating Hit and Run After Vehicle Strikes Utility Pole and Unoccupied SUV in Lexington Park

On Thursday, June 4, 2020, at approximately 6:45 p.m., police responded to Butlers Place in area of Three Notch Road and Melissa Moore Lane in Lexington Park, for the reported motor vehicle accident.

Police arrived on the scene to find the single vehicle off the roadway and in the parking lot of Butlers Place. The vehicle struck and broke a utility pole, then struck a parked unoccupied SUV in the parking lot.

Witnesses reported the single occupant, a black male wearing a black shirt and black shorts with a beanie style hat fled the scene on foot into the nearby wooded area.

Troopers from the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack are currently investigating the crash.

SMECO and Atlantic Broadband remained on the scene for over four hours due to nearby traffic control lights being out, the utility pole having to be replaced along with utility lines being attached to the new pole.

No injuries were reported.
