Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department Cancels Annual Carnival for 2020 due to COVID-19

June 11, 2020

The Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department regrets to announce the cancelation of the Annual Carnival for 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This decision was not reached easily for a number of reasons. It is a major resource of income for the scheduled replacement of our fire fighting apparatus. Attending the Annual Carnival at HVFD is a long time standing tradition for many of our County residents.

Kids of all ages enjoyed hours of fun riding the various rides owned and operated by HVFD and playing the many games of skill and chance in hopes of winning a prize or money. People would come from miles away just to get a slice of that famous carnival pizza, fresh cut French fries or maybe some cotton candy., but with so much going on and uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic and requirements of Social Distancing, reduced numbers of people in social gatherings, and most importantly, the safety and health of our community members and members of our fire department we thought it would be best to not have a carnival this year.

Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department wants to thank everyone for your continued support over the years and looks forward when we can all gather again in large groups for some fun and fellowship. We are currently looking at alternative safe ways to raise funds to help offset the loss of revenue from the carnival so keep an eye open and ears alert for future announcements.
