State Fire Marshal Investigating Vehicle Abandoned and Set Ablaze in Newburg

On Sunday, October 25, 2020, at 6:54 p.m., 20 firefighters responded to the 12800 block of Rock Point Road in Newburg, for the unknown fire observed by a nearby resident through the woods.

Firefighters from Newburg arrived on the scene to find a 2012 Chrysler 300 sedan fully engulfed in flames with the fire spreading to the surrounding area.

The owner is identified as Brittany Brown, with the estimated loss of structure/contents valued at $6,500.00

Investigation determined the fire was the result of unknown person(s) intentionally igniting the exterior and interior passenger compartment of the vehicle. The vehicle was found abandoned along a power line access road off of Route 257 in Newburg, Charles County.

No injuries were reported.
