Steven “Stevie” Alexander Butler Sr., 64yrs, of Waldorf, MD, passed away Friday, October 16, 2020 at the University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in LaPlata, MD. Born May 16, 1956 in Bel Alton, MD, he was the son of the late John William Sr. and Mary Elizabeth (Queen) Butler.
Following graduation from La Plata High School in La Plata , MD, Stevie started work at the Southern Maryland Electric Company.
Stevie is retired from the Washington Post located in Washington, DC.
He was most proud of his corvette which he spent copious amounts of time maintaining. He also enjoyed eating sweets, spending time with his family and watching action movies.
Stevie was one of the best drummers in Charles County. He began playing in John Smoot’s band while still in school. Throughout the years, he also played for the Funky Neighbors, Brothers Seven, Serious Band, Limited Time with Unlimited, Jimmy Bennett and Unique Creation and Limited Time with the Chosen Few.
Stevie is survived by his soul mate, Vivian Rosier-Butler of Waldorf MD; sons Steven Butler Jr. of Cheverly, MD, and Derrick Butler of Waldorf, MD; daughters Tiffany Butler of Waldorf, MD and Tamika Kaneko and husband John of Lexington Park, MD; grandchildren, Isaiah Douglas of Waldorf, MD, and Violet and Seth Kaneko of Lexington Park, MD; brothers John William Butler Jr. and wife Elsie of Calvert County, MD, Howard Wade of the DMV area and Robert Brown of Accokeek, MD; sister Josephine Short of the DMV area; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Stevie was preceded in death by his sisters Julia Jackson, Audrey Butler; brothers Thomas Butler, Reed Butler, Truman Butler, Michael Wilson, Manuel Wilson and Daniel Wilson
