Josephine Cecelia Barbour Apperson, 81, of White Plains, Maryland died on October 23, 2020.
Josephine was a proud Navy wife. She spent most of her life caring for her family and grandchildren. Josephine was an avid bowler and volunteer at the school for her children and grandchildren. She spent countless hours crocheting blankets for her family members, something that many will have as a treasured memory for years to come. Of course, we cannot forget her love of Elvis and all of his memorabilia as well as her colorful personality that shone through in her never-ending supply of purses, clothing and her neon nail polishes.
She was the daughter of Charles E. Barbour and Alice K. Boswell Barbour. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, John Howard Apperson and all of her brothers and sisters, Charles W. Barbour, Willard J. Barbour, Kathleen Barbour Morgan, Carl Barbour, Patsy J. Barbour Bryant, Leonard Barbour, Franklin Barbour, Sharon L. Barbour Bartlett, and James F. Barbour.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl Ann Warner, Jeffrey A. Apperson (wife, Lori), Kelly M. Williams (husband, Mark), Sharon L. Elkins (husband, Keith), Jody L. Burch (husband, Robert), and Charles E. Apperson (wife, Stephanie). She was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation on Thursday, November 12, 2020 from 10AM until time of Funeral Service at 11AM at Raymond Funeral Service Chapel, 5635 Washington Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646. Interment on Friday, November 13, 2020 at 10:30AM at the Maryland Veterans Cemetery, 11301 Crain Highway, Cheltenham, Maryland 20623.
