Helene Eloise Ganey, 87, passed away on October 23, 2020 in Lusby, MD surrounded by her family. Born June 2, 1933 in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late William Mitchell Quick and Eloise Elizabeth (Gilmore) Quick and stepmother Irma (McPherson) Quick. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Donald Joseph Ganey for 23 years and they raised their three daughters in Rockville, Md.
Helene was a lifelong learner. After graduating from Calvin Coolidge High School in 1951 and raising her family, she went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree from American University and later her Master’s Degree from JFK University.
After the death of her loving husband, Donald, in 1978, her adventuresome spirit allowed her to move across the country from all that she knew to create a fulfilling new life in the San Francisco area. Helene is survived by her children, Eloise Ganey of Charlotte, NC, Susan Ganey (Sarah Cheverton) of Harrisonburg, VA and Laura Ashley (Greg) of Lusby, MD; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; her sister Carol Quick Auxier ( Sam) of Frederick, MD; many nieces and nephews and numerous furry grand pets. She also leaves behind a family of friends at the Unity Church of Walnut Creek, CA. She overcame much to create a life full of love, family and faith.
