UPDATE 11/04/2020 at 1:30 p.m: The family has provided the following update.
“John Garrett Jr. Has been located. Now the process of helping him to heal and reconnect with the family unit is paramount.”
Our family was overwhelmed with the amount of tips and well wishes that we received from across the country. Those tips lead the Maryland State police and our family to locate John after six days missing
My brother is well loved in the community and rightly so. In the immediate future we ask for some space and patience as we work to strengthen our family unit and sort out what happened. Today, we are reveling in gratitude for life and love and family.
I would like to thank the Maryland State police and the Calvert County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance in this matter and for going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that everyone was kept safe and that common sense prevailed. At the same time everybody’s rights under the law were protected, due process was given great respect, and The care of the individuals involved even played a factor.
Thank you all so much for your help. Hug your loved ones tight. Warmest regards and God bless you. Please like and share so that the algorithm spreads this far and wide as it did the report that he was missing. Many thousands of people we’re rooting for John and we need to let them know that he has been located and is safe in the arms of his family.”

John recently lost a lot of weight and may be wearing loose fitting sweats in which he had been doing yard work.
He told his roommate he was running to the store to get cigarettes, from the road he allegedly made a cryptic phone call back to his roommate saying he was going to care for his sick grandmother – she was not sick and never saw him – since then, his large circle of friends, family, and colleagues have been unable to find him.
