UPDATE: St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Motor Vehicle Collision in Mechanicsville

UPDATE: On November 3, 2020, at approximately 1:21 a.m. deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to a single vehicle accident with reported injury in the 25800 block of Three Notch Road, in the area of South Sandgates Road in Mechanicsville.

Deputies arrived on scene and located the operator, Lawrence Alvin Hoffman Jr., age 26 of Mechanicsville, lying unconscious on the side of the roadway.

Members of the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and continued the investigation.

Investigation determined Hoffman was traveling northbound on Three Notch Road, operating a 2014 Mazda6, when for unknown reasons the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree. Hoffman was ejected from the vehicle and transported to an area trauma center for treatment.

At this time it is unknown if alcohol or drug use were factors in the collision.

11/03/2020: On Tuesday, November 3, 2020, at approximately 1:23 a.m., police, fire and rescue personnel responded to the area of Three Notch Road and South Sandgates Road in Mechanicsville.

Fire and rescue personnel arrived on the scene in under 7 minutes after dispatch and found a single vehicle off the roadway with the single occupant/operator out of the vehicle and unconscious. A helicopter was immediately requested for his injuries.

Maryland State Police Helicopter Trooper 7 landed nearby and transported the victim to an area trauma center with serious injuries.

The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office and Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and continued the investigation.
