UPDATE: Neighbors 911 Call Saves Residence and Home Occupant from Garage Fire, One Firefighter Injured

UPDATE: On Sunday, November 15, 2020, at 1:25 a.m., firefighters from Waldorf and surrounding departments responded to 6691 Puma Court in Waldorf, for the reported structure fire on fire.

Crews arrived on the scene to find a two story residence with fire showing from a two car attached garage.

One occupant was discovered asleep on the second floor and was assisted by firefighters out of the residence with no injuries. The owner/occupants are identified as Brownie Dudley.

The estimated loss of structure and contents is valued at $30,000

Smoke alarms were not present in garage, but present within the home.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in under 10 minutes.

One firefighter was transported to an area hospital with smoke inhalation injuries. He was treated and released within the same day.

The cause of the fire, which originated within the attached garage, is under investigation and currently undetermined.

11/15/2020: On Sunday, November 15, 2020, at approximately 1:24 a.m., firefighters responded to 6691 Puma Court in Waldorf, for the reported structure fire.

Crews arrived on the scene to find a two story residence with fire showing from the garage.

The 911 caller was a neighbor who spotted the flames coming from the garage.

During the primary and secondary search of the residence, firefighters located one occupant asleep on the second floor, firefighters assisted him out of the residence and reported light smoke conditions inside the residence.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in under 20 minutes.

One volunteer firefighter was transported to the area hospital with smoke inhalation injuries, he was treated and released the same day.

The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal responded to investigate the cause of the fire.
